Hey guys. I'm starting to put a timeline together for my day and was curious which I should do first, or does it matter? Should I do the hair first so the makeup lady has an easier time, or vice versa? Any advice or thoughts?
Also, I think I might test some places in a few weeks when my mom is here to visit. We like to do these things together. I was thinking of trying the Clinique counter, and maybe the Mac store. Any other suggestions?

I really like Mac so I would totally recommend trying there for makeup. As far as the timeline, I would recommend getting hair done and then makeup. I feel like having hair up/down can affect how your makeup looks or should be done. Sometimes having your hair a certain way can accent certain facial features, so once you have your hair done you can figure out what other facial features you want to accent with makeup. I'm not sure if that is how it is usually done but that is how I would probably get it done. I'll be interested to hear other people's replies since it isn't something I'd even thought about yet!

I'd do hair first then makeup.
Be careful with the makeup counter ladies. Everytime I've gone to them for help I come out looking like a hooker. I did my makeup myself and it was perfect.

Marge, that's funny! I'll definitely do some run-throughs first so the hooker thing doesn't happen to me!
I usually do my makeup pretty well, I think (and I've been told ), but I thought it would be fun to do on the day of. Be pampered a bit...

I've always gotten my hair done first so that if they spray anything or have to re wet it or something it won't ruin my makeup.

Depends on how you're doing your hair. If you're using rollers and they have to sit for a while, that would be a good time to do make-up.

Whichever you do first, watch out for getting hairspray on your face! It can cause your foundation and powder to gunk up and make big bloches on your face... That happened to a friend of mine before her wedding and she had to wash her face and start over!

good pointer, Suzy. I'm going to do some test runs and I'll let you guys know how they go. I've never gotten my mkeup done professionally, so it sounds kind of fun. We'll see though.

Total pampering is a wonderful thing for a bride. Having your hair and makeup and nails done set the tone, because it IS (mostly) about you that day. While the "make-up ladies" can sometime go into full-blown hooker-mode, a professional aesthetician will do a more subtle "enhanced" you. Remember too that most people will not see you close-up and personal until after the wedding, and with the lighting for the photographers, what looks normal and/or healthy/natural at home can look washed out under the lights.

If you have time to use a lip plumper for more time in advance you can test it out to see how it works with your chemistry. One thing you might want to consider is to apply City Lips about two weeks before the wedding. You can find it at:
http://citylips.00freehost.com. It makes a huge difference in the way your lips look in pictures on the wedding day.

I wouldn't have wanted my lips to look "different" on my wedding day. I'd be afraid that everyone would think I was collagen-enhanced.
