My friend wants me to do this body wrap at a salon that is suppose to take a couple inches off or make you look "smaller"The thing is it is like 100-200 dollars...that is nuts..does this wrao really do a good job? I just do not think it is worth it..like it is b.s or something..anyone do this before?

I've never had one, but from what I've heard they work. But what they're doing is just getting rid of water weight, so it's not something that's going to be a permanent fix. It's great for a special occasion where you want to slim down temporarily, but it isn't designed to be a weight loss plan. Again, this is just what I've heard.

This sounds like what wrestlers do right before they weigh in. It doesn't sound to me like it would work. Are you considering it for your wedding or a special occassion?

Body wraps definitely work.... and the weight (inch) loss doesn't have to be temporary. One of my bridesmaids has her own body wrap business and I've seen some amazing results!

Aimee - you said it doesn't have to be temporary. Can you elaborate on that? What makes it more permanent, etc?

My brother did that when he was trying to lose weight to get into the navy. It did work for him, but like any "weight loss" change, you have to keep exercising to keep it off

If you don't gain weight, you don't gain the inches back.

How does wrapping your body make you lose weight? I always thought they worked by taking out all of the extra water. Is that incorrect?

It's mostly inches, but water does have weight.

Firemansgirl,

I have had it done; I did lose inches and weight. Although, it is hard to say if it was the wraps or the fact that I was also on a diet and working out. The girls at the spa I went to would take my measurements before and after the wraps and I did lose inches. I am sure it was water weight. One other thing I notice was that my skin was softer and smoother and I looked a little more toned. It is relaxing I did enjoy them. If you don’t want to spend that much you can find home kits for about $70 and that is for multiple uses. Just Google “home body wrap” and that will give you plenty of options.

Thankyou all for your help...my friend wants to do this before my brothers wedding, she thought it might be fun..doing a spa day or something. I do not expect it to be a way to loose weight...I work out and eat right...I think it would be cool though to drop down a size or two for the wedding Chacha.....thanks about the google advice, I will have to check it out

CHACHA - BRIDE.....dO YOU THINK THE HOME KITS ARE AS EFFECTIVE AS THE SALONS?

I have not used the home version of the wraps but I know that thy used to sell the at home kit at the spa. It was the same stuff they used on me at the spa. I think the ingredients are the most important part. If I recall the ingredients that where important where Aloe, Sea kelp and Seaweed. The only thing I added was a collagen cream before the application of the mud because I wanted my skin to tighten up.

What happened was that I would put the collagen cream on before I arrived and I wore my bathing suit under my clothes (I brought an extra set of under garments in a separate bag because the bathing suit gets wet). I want to a privet room and the spa tech. took different measurements from various areas around my body: upper chest, under bust, waist, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knee, calf, thigh, forearm and wrist. She then put the clay paste all over my body with the exception of where my bathing suit covered. Then she wrapped me up tightly like a mummy with wide ace bandages that had been pre-soaked in a mineral salt. (here is am example of how they wrapped me http://www.suddenlyslender.com/VisualTour1.asp) Then I put on a vinyl sauna suit on then the spa tech. helped l me on to a where I was covered with a electric thermal blanket for 45 minutes to an hour.
I was then measured all over again. I have heard at some spas they have you work out to increase your body temperature.

Everyone is different and I can only speak from my experience and I liked it. This is where I went to have my wraps done but it was a while ago http://www.suddenlyslimmerofca.com/index.htm

Lizbet...I will! wE SHOULD BE GETTING IT IN A WEEK. i DO NOT EXPECT IT TO BE AWESOME BECAUSE I HAVE TO EAT RIGHT AND EXERCISE MY BUT OFF TO STAY IN SHAPE...BUT YA KNOW, IF I CAN DROP A SIZE OR TWO MORE BEFORE THE WEDDING...IT IS ALL GOOD!

So.. am I to understand, this will take inches off, and I keep it up with excersize it should stay off???? This almost sounds too good to be true...

posted by firemansgirl

I am not sure if this stuff will even work...we are doing a spa day and this is one of the things we ordered to do at home...I was saying that I have to eat right n exercise to stay in shape so...yeah I am questioning this too...the girls I ordered this from say, it lasts about 10 days...if you gain weight, your inches will obviously come back...but if you do this plus stay in shape..you could drop a size or 2! if it works cool...if not, it will be fun trying on spa day! I will let everyone know how it goes!

Ladies...I am back..sorry it took so long to get back here. So, we ordered the body wrap stuff from bodywrap.com...we did spa day Saturday and it was a blast! Now..the great news..this stuff rocks! You put it on and then, the wraps..after they are heated then you put this vinyl suit on..that was the only thing that was annoying..you are suppose to either do light walking or cover up in a heating blanket...well.. there was 5 of us I lost 7 inches...sis lost 8 1/2..bm lost 10 But I think she measured wrong! hAVE NOT TALKED TO OTHER GIRLS YET Anyway..We did this on Sat. and I still have the inches off of me..though I am loosing weight and exercising..they say if you gain weight..you will go back..so, just wanted you guys to know how it went!!!
