Whose parents, theirs? Yours and FH's, I would say something from the heart, yes. Even if it is a very special card, poem, etc.
I gave everyone who helped with guest book, cutting the cake, etc. a corsage or buttionier (sp), as a thank you for helping out on our special day. I am not sure what the "rule" is though.

I am giving everyone in who is helping out with my wedding alittle something special at the rehersal dinner (ok that came out wrong).
I would say give them something nice, but if you are on a tight bugdet, don't break yourself, even something homemade would be nice. I would say the same thing would go for your parents, but a toast or poem in there honor may work too (that really depends on their personalities though).
Kim had some great ideas too!!!

I just gave my SIL (she read a blessing) and my cousin (book attendant) corsages. That's all I gave them, and they were appreciative of that.
If nothing else, a simple thank you card would work just fine.

Besides the bridal party and parents, we gave gifts of the same nature/expense to those who did a reading and who passed out programs. We didn't have a guestbook attendant.
