Anyone have a foolproof way to make sure that my skin does not break out on my wedding day? I generally have very clear skin. But, I have breakouts just before my period (yes, unfortunately it falls on my wedding day

, and can be worse when I am stressed. I have never had serious acne, just one or two small zits once a month. Any suggestions would help! Thanks

Drink lots of water for sure, try not to get more stressed out than normal, take some time off for yourself just to read, chill out, that kind of thing. Make sure you wash your face etc thoroughly so you don't leave any makeup or dirt on your face.....but don't wash too much or you'll strip your skin of all the oils and it will produce even more oil which will make you break out. Kind of annoying, but unfortunately true. Unfortunately there is no foolproof way to prevent zits that will work for everyone, but that works well for me.

Off topic lol this reminds of me My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the B&G both get a pimple on the wedding day and the groom sprays windex on the pimple. LOL i wonder if that really works lol

Shaks18, that example is so funny. That was a great scene! If you need a good cleanser, my sister works at a salon and gave me Hydroderm recently. You can find it at this link:
http://www.hydroderm.us. If you are breaking out with stress it means your cleanser isn't doing it's job. When you remove the dead skin cells, your pores will have a chance to breathe. You might need to switch to a cleanser that works as an exfoliator as well. Hydroderm is gentle, but also removes dirt and oil like a charm. Don't worry, you're going to be beautiful on your big day!

Whatever you do, DO NOT try a new skin care routine too close to your wedding! If you are going to try something new, do it a couple of months before the wedding. I have really sensitive skin that gets really pi**ed if I try to use different things. Sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes it happens a month down the road. If you have any pimples on the day or day before the wedding, you can go to your DR and get a cortizone shot which will shrink it down and take the redness away. If you have any on the day of the wedding, obviously zit creme is too late, but you can use Preparation-H (yes, really) to shink that sucker down to size and take the redness out. And not to get too personal - but are you on the pill? I am, and after looking at the months ahead, I discovered that I would be on my period on the wedding, and I was not having that! So I had to 'reset' my pills so that I would have my period the week before the wedding. If you have the time to do this, you can arrange it so your period comes either a little earlier or later to avoid the monthly breakout.

I read something a while ago that said you can skip the sugar pills, and just start the next month so that you won't have your period at all. Anyone ever heard of that? I remember reading that one side effect of this is that it can make you grumpier than usual, with your hormones out of whack and all! Obviously, check this with your Dr., but there are other options available, thank God!
Does the Preparation H really work? I've always heard of that, but have never tried it! And I agree, water, water, water, now and in the days leading up to your wedding. it does do wonders for the skin.

Yes, you can skip the sugar pills and continue on with your next month's pills. I did that because I was going to have my period on my honeymoon and I didn't have any real side effects. There might be some spotting, but I didn't even have that. If you're on the pill for a reason other than or in addition to birth control, check with your doctor first, but it was a lifesaver for me.

about BC pills: a friend of mine said that she checked w/ her Dr if it was ok to just take the three weeks' worth of hormone pills, skip the placebos and go straight into another cycle of the regular pills. She was going on a mission trip to Africa and didn't want to deal w/ her period while there... her Dr said it was fine but that she shouldn't make it a habit. Anyone wanting to do this should check with their doctor first, there are many types of pills w/ different hormone combos and I'd hate for you to do something that could potentially have adverse effects on your health (or leave you unexpectedly pregnant!). I decided to chime in as a way to encourage you to ASK the question if it's something you're interested in doing. Also, your insurance may not cover the cost of two months' worth of pills in one 30-day period.

I didn't do the sugar pills thing, I just waited 2 weeks after my period before starting another pack - my Dr. said it was okay to start a pack then, even though it wasn't right after my period. She said I may have some crapming, and my new cycle may be a bit different (lighter or heavier) for the first cycle of pills, but that it was perfectly safe, as long as we used a backup birth control method. My period was differnt - but it was fine with me cuz it only lasted 2 days! But I am sure this month it will be back to the same old 4 days like before. I am on Tri-Norinyl, BTW. With my readjusted cycle, I should get my period the Saturday before the wedding, be completely done 4 days before the wedding.

I'm on the Ortho Evra patch. Due to "extenuating circumstances" my OBGYN has me on the patch for 9 weeks and off for 1. He said this will not adversely affect my cycle or the effectiveness of the patch. He said I could do up to 11 on and 1 off, but he reccommends not longer than the 9 wks on b/c of side effects like spotting.

I had no problem skipping the sugar pills and not getting my period for two months. It does depend on the pill though.

i, too, am on the ortho evra patch, and due to my 'extenuating cirmcumstances' as well, my doc prescribed me to just never have a week off... i did this for 4 months, adn that was when i began spotting, so i asked him if i could return to a normal schedule. and i have, but w/ the patch it is ever so much easier to redirect your period, imo, b/cs you can just buy one replacement patch (w/out insurance covering, it'sklike $15 for one). sometimes you have to get a prescription for the replacement patch (but i've begged my way into getting one before when i really had lost my 3rd one).

Make an appointment with your dermatologist for the day before your wedding. If you have any impending explosions, he can inject a teeny-tiny amount of a steriod using an ultrafine needle into that sucker that will shrink it right up. Actors and actresses, models all use this technique for pimples that makeup won't cover and there absolutely has to be a photo-shoot.
