Hi there, I'm new to this forum and very excited to see such a great place to go for online wedding tips. I have my wedding in June and I am debating whether I need to keep a stylist on-hand at the wedding for touch-up and for right before I come down the isle. I work at a spa and so I know a lot of people who could recommend good stylists, but it is so much more expensive than just going somewhere to get my makeup done professionally and then having my friends help keep me looking gorgeous at the chapel. Anyone have any experiences to share, advice, ect???

I am not planning to have a 'personal stylist' on hand. After the initial hair and makeup is done, other than quick lipstick touchups or powdering my nose, I don't really plan on fussing with my face or hair too much. My MOH will keep an eye on me!

I didn't have someone keeping me "touched up" at my wedding, and my hair and make-up stayed fresh-looking for the entire day. I've never been to a wedding where the bride had a "touch-up" person on hand.

Ok, maybe I'm just making too big a deal about this. I guess, since I live in Sacramento, it's supposed to be super hot in June and I'm just worried things will go wrong adn I'll start "melting", I'm kind of a perfectionist. Thanks for the advice ladies!

I definitely understand your concern, but at the same time, you can have your MOH or BM's look after you and make sure you aren't "dripping" and that your face isn't glowing a little too much. Save yourself the $ and get a pedicure!

I'm a wedding coordinator and I have never seen a bride who had a stylist on hand for touch-ups. Usually, once your hair is done and the veil set in place, you don't need much touch up unless you remove your veil. As mentioned by Suechick, your MOH can help if she needs to. Just be sure to bring a can of hairspray with you.

I have a really close friend who has done my hair since I was in grade school. She will be doing my hair for my wedding and will be a guest. I'm just going to make sure she has some hairspray, lipstick, and a comb in her purse for touchups. I wouldn't consider her a personal stylist, but she will be the one making sure I look just right. I would definately have someone paying attention to stray hairs or lipstick smears, but a BM could do that for you.

I live in the Sacramento area, too. I've been to many summer weddings, and the brides have never "melted" in the heat. Unless you're going to spend hours under the sun, you won't have a problem. Just having some hairspray, lipstick, and powder on hand will be sufficient.

Alright, less money to spend on getting ready, that means I can put more towards the decorations!!! I should have more faith in makeup :-)
