Wedding vows.
I need help! My fiance and I have decided that it would be such a romantic idea to write our own vows. But I'm stuck (if you can be stuck before you're even started, that is)! I don't have any ideas. I mean, I know I love him, but how can I say that? Has anyone else wrote their own vows before? Does anyone have any pointers? I'll be posting frequently - I'm a little stressed. I've no idea as to where to start planning!

Welcome to the site girl!!!!
As for vows, I have considered writing my vows, but now Iam really starting to second guess, for one because it's not easy to explain the love you have for someone, and secondly we may just elope, and LAST...I wouldn't want everyone else to hear, I wanna whisper it in Daves ear!!! Thats a personal thing. Iam ok, with repeating after the dude but when it comes down to me saying whats in my heart, I want it ONLY for my babe's ears!!!
There a TONS AND TONS of websites that help you write your own vows and ones that you can take vows from, paste little pieces together...
Let us know how it goes

I'm just so nervous! I mean, I've started a thousand times. Also, both of us are "Creative" people, and are typically good with words. I write frequently, he writes frequently, we're involving in creative things. It's just something I'm stuck on. But I'm determined to have something original to say. I will look into other sites for advice, but I thought a forum would be my first stop. I'll keep you guys filled in.
I need to get pictures of my ring on here. Gorgeous.

We wrote our own vows. I searched online, got a book (YUCK!) and when I read something I liked, wrote it down and filed it. I collected ideas for about 3 months and then pulled that file and got to work. The file served as inspiration and helped me find the direction when I got stumped.
Good luck and welcome to Pash!!!

We wrote our own vows and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. Nothing against people who repeat what the officiant tells them to, but saying what's in your heart on that big day is so great!! It was really hard and yes, we both cried through our vows, but they were so memorable. My suggestions are:
1. Start them early.
2. Begin with just writing bullet points on things you want to say, what you like about him, what you want your life to be like, etc. It'll give you a starting point.
3. I read somewhere to try to use words like promise, hope, love, dream, cherish, etc. That helped me to look at those words and think about what it sparked in me.
Good luck!!
