Default Angry with the women doing my invitations

Okay right I am pi$$ed off with the lady who is doing my invitations - I first made contact with her on the 22nd June thinking that this would give me loads of time so that the invitation process didnt turn into a stressful one! Anyway she is so slow at getting any proofs to me - I was supposed to recieve my first proof at the end of July and I didnt end up getting this until the 5th August after me continually asking her about it, anyway I emailed her straight away to let her know of any changes I wanted made, this was the 7th of August and she told me she would make the changes and then have another proof off to me that week. A week after that I have nothing so I email her, she promises she is putting it in the post, another week goes by and still nothing so I end up chasing her up another two times that week. She then emails me on Friday saying that if I havent recieved it over the weekend to let her know - I mean WTF!?!?!?! it takes a max of three days for things to be sent in the post in this country, why the hell is she taking so long!?!?!?!

Anyway at the end of my tether I end up sending her this email today:

Hi blah blah,

I'm getting a little bit concerned about the invitations - things seem to be taking a long time to be turned around!
I really want all these invitations to be printed and in my hands by mid-September as I then need to get them sent to my parents back home as they are sending them from there!
Also there is one more change that need to be made, the RSVP date, we thought that October was too soon and have decided to go with the 5th December as our RSVP date. I am worried though that if I make this change then it will be another two weeks before I get the proof back and I just cant afford to waste that time.
Please let me know if you think you will be able to have these invitations all printed and to me by mid-September, if not I will have to go elsewhere which I don’t want to do as you have done a good job of my invitations.
Is there someway we could get this all sorted quicker?? Could you maybe fax the final proof through to me?? or could we talk about this over the phone?? (you don’t have a phone number on your website!?!)
I am sure you can understand my concerns - please let me know what you think will be the best option, I'm just really anxious to get this all sorted asap.

So AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH HHHHHHHHH I am so pi$$ed off, how can one person be soooooo disorganised???

Sorry - just had to get that out!

Is she running a home-based business where she is the only employee? That may be the reason for the delays; she may have more business than she can handle. I'm not saying that this justifies all of the delays, but it may be the reason.

have you placed a deposit? If not, i'd just take the invite that she made and see if a nearby printer has something similar and if you tell them your bad experience, they'll probably work with getting it out to you faster. Just the fact that she doesnt have a contact number makes me nervous. I hope you havent paid her anything

I am totally in agreement with you. It's been my experience with owner-ran businesses that they tend to underestimate the amount of time they need to do a job. That's why I asked.

Nope I have paid her nothing - so Damon and I decided last night that we are going to take her first proof and run with it! There is a printers just down the road from my work so I am going to see what they can do!

She hasnt responded to my email that I sent her yesterday yet

Be careful about this. If she copyrights her stuff, you could be sued for stealing her idea.

Bugger - she just emailed me and reckons she can get them turned around by mid-sept now!! And I just got back from checking out the printers down the road and they can do it for half the price!

Feb - I highly doubt it that she has things copyrighted, its an original invitation and I provided her with graphics etc....

You have no contract right?
You have paid her nothing?
Your still yet to see the final proof?

I would just email her and tell her you are going with someone else.

I guess I'm more of a goody-goody than I thought. If I took someone else's proof and took it to another person to produce, I would feel like I was stealing, even if it was legal to do so.

For me I think it would depend upon the exactness of it and the originality of it. I mean if it's a card that has Emily's image and some wording she's really only taking the layout which doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Now if there was some original art involved I think that would be different.

At this point I would probably go with someone else because you can't trust her word she says she can have them by mid september but she also says you should already have your proof...

Yeah I agree with you on one hand in an ideal world I would like to be able to go with her, but at the moment I need these invites done and I need them done quickly - but on the other hand she was supposed to provide me a service and she hasnt done that, the first time I made contact with her was June 22nd thinking I would have heaps of time to get this sorted and in my books the length of time it has taken her just doesnt cut it!

Also before I left work yesterday she promised she would have a final proof waiting for me on my fax at work this morning - I am here at work and theres no proof, I'm going to stop wasting my time with this women its just stressing me out!

Thanks for all your input girlies, I appreciate it! I'll let you know what I end up doing

Hey girlies,

Well I have been let down twice again since I last posted in this thread, so I sent her this email today.

Hi blah blah,

How are you?

I am feeling a bit let down again - you promised me you would have a proof waiting for me yesterday morning via fax and then said you would scan it and email it to me yesterday afternoon - I am yet to receive either!
Anyway I just wanted to let you know that we have decided to get our invitations done by some printers down the road from my work - I am sorry that it has come to this but I need to have my invitations done by someone I can trust and who can turn them around quickly.

I think maybe you shouldn't have taken on this job with the birth of your baby just around the corner.
Anyway it has been nice conversing with you and I wish you all the joy in the world!
Good luck with the birth of your new baby next month!

Take care,

Emily

She only informed me the other day that she was having a baby next month which made me feel terrible!!! But at the end of the day I had to do what was best for us!

So the printers down the road from my work are doing them for us now - they are charging half the price and we have changed the invitation quite a bit so that its not her work!

I’m glad you worked that out… I think you did the right thing. Hopefully you will get the results you are looking for.

I think that under the circumstances, you were more than fair with her. I'm glad you're not letting the fact that she's having a baby next month change your mind. I agree with you - she shouldn't have taken on this job if she had a baby coming and would be too busy with that to get the invites done on time.
