Well, one month after the wedding I sent my photographer the choices I wanted for our album.

When we got the draft of the album (online) about ½ dozen of them were the wrong photos. Also, I didn’t like how some of them looked, so I asked if we could swap another 6. So that is actually only 6 changes (because the rest were his fault.). I also asked that he change the layout on a few of the pages because it is just too busy looking.

I didn’t want to rush him on it because I knew it was a lot of work, but it has been 3 months 3 weeks since our wedding & we don’t even have a final draft of the album, let alone the actual album.

So he finally calls last night, clearly pissed off with it. He said the photos that I said were wrong aren’t. I was stunned. Wee example, the shot of my bouquet with my engagement ring is number 006 on the web site & number 006 on the bottom of my proof shot. He said it should be number 005 WTF?? He said he has to work by what they are listed as on his computer…. So wtf am I supposed to work on? My incredible psychic abilities? How am I supposed to realize his mistake??

Anyway, we politely discussed it (because I want to keep him sweet so he does a good job on it). His final word was that he’ll update the web site with all the right numbers & I’ll need to go back through all my choices to make sure that I now have the same numbers listed as are shown there.

I’m f***** off.

I’ll now have to spend my weekend going through all these photos
.

I've moved this coz I still need to vent, so this should help save anyone on dialup from having to load 1,000,000 photos to see me vent…

The issue has changed slightly… I went through all the photos last night. They are shit. He’s put on a stack of what looks like unfinished images, ones that are very different than our first web & our proof copies.. sent an email confirming our choices for the album & mentioned that there were a lot of photographic differences, but that I thought he must have posted the pre-edited shots so we can get moving with this quickly. :/

Latest news:

I got one email this morning asking about an order for 4 prints. I placed this order in June! I collected it & paid for it in July! So I made a list of everything I had ordered so far, what I’ve got & paid for, what I haven’t received or paid for yet.

So that was email 1 dealt with…

Email 2 said (I’ll just quote it)

the photos on the site are exactly the same as the finished version you have, just that some numbers will be a little different. I'll redo the CD gallery too so you have a better reference. I still can't work out the difference, as some of them are obviously correct - most of your selections were what you expected, so they must all have the correct numbers. Weird! Anyway, if we stick to the web versions and later the revised CD, we should be fine.

I don't want the new f****** web versions. I want my proper wedding photos

I'll post a couple of photos to show you the differences...

But I sent him another email (a little less diplomatic) showing exactly what the issue is, and it's not that I got the numbers wrong.

What a weird situation. I hope everything works out. It surprises me that he'd make these sorts of mistakes considering how great the pictures I've seen turned out.

There are only 2 distant photos of the "Castle" behind us in our photos. These are now show as:

This is what they looked like before & in our proof album:

It's this last one (the photoshoped version) that we want in our album.

I just don't understand how he can say they are the same... Sure, they are the same subject matter, but they're sure as hell not the same images.

Thanks Feb, I don't understand either

I'm just terrified that he's lost all the finished ones & is trying to cover up by saying it's my mistake...

I'm not a happy bunny.

Again, that's so weird. The pictures do NOT look exactly the same; even my untrained eye can see that!

Do you think there is any way I could be misunderstanding that email? Am I crazy, or did he really say those are the same?

The email I sent back gave it a huge big:
They are not the same.

I had better get a reply by monday. I feel like I'm going insane, how can they be the same photos?! That is only one example. I sent him a stack of examples pointing out what they all looked like before & after.

If he's f***** up I'd rather he'd just admt it & stop wasting my time.

ETA:
I'm really glad I downloaded all the original photos off his site, becuase he's overwritten them now. This way I have proof I can send him without having to take over my actual prints....

holy cow..... ok let me get this straight because I think I might be confused..... the after pictures that you just showed are the ones he supposedly made corrections on and are the ones he wants to print for you?

Actually seeing the "before" and "after" shots makes me rethink that I am not that bad of a photographer, he has a lot of shadows..... at least to my untrained eye. Keep us posted and I really hope you hear back from him and get a satisfactory response ASAP!

To be honest, I nreally hope I've misunderstood him.

Bu from what I can gather he's saying that they are the same. That the ones I have as before kind of never existed & the after shots are the finished product

No having it. No way.

What would you take from this email? Do you think I've read it wrong?

Wow Ann-I'm really confused at this situation! I was trying to work out some sort of logical reason this is going on (as I do love logic-I'm funny that way), and I can't figure this out! The castle pictures are CLEARLY different, and some of the other shots has obviously been reworked (not sure about the photographic term) originally, and now simply aren't. Have you emailed him with the castle shot? I think to me that's the most compelling example of the differences-there's no way he can point to the new ones and say, see same thing. The fact that he's overridden the program on his website seems odd to me too.

Do you have friends that have used him in the past? I'm not quite sure what that would do at this point, aside from add to the posse to kick him around a little, but wow. I'm so sorry, but you are NOT losing your mind. I think that's about all I can give ya right now! Keep us posted-this is bizarre!!

MAN! Is that guy on crack or something??? Those pics are way different, he must have done something and is trying to keep you from finding out... Or have to give you back a refund. Start hinting at that if he doesn't hold up HIS end of the contract.

If you live close then I would go by and see if you two can work this out. I'm sorry you are going through this.

I can clearly see a difference too. Don't give in - and make sure you get what you want girl.
