Default Boxes, Bags, etc.

While searching for wrapping paper to use to decorate our guest bedroom, I stumbled upon this site that sells in bulk (or not) at great prices.

http://www.papermart.com/Pages/hello.htm

They have tulle, boxes, bags - you name it, they have it.

I just have to ask.....what are you decorating your guest bedroom with wrapping paper? Or are you talking wall paper? Just wondering if you made an oops or if you can actually decorate with wrapping paper and if so fill me in I want to know how so I might try it. Thanks.....

I meant wrapping paper. I saw some cool designs on TV and since our guest bedroom is pretty bland, I want to do one small wall in wrapping paper of light blues and light greens. It's cheaper and less messy than wall paper. I'll be using silver thumbtacks to hold it up in the corners, all symmetrical and a little shiny.

Here's the guest room before we moved in (previous owners crap).

Here it is as it is now - very bland.

(That's Mr. Threepeat following me around, posing like the cutie pie he is.)

I wanted a neutral color on the wall so I could do more with fabrics and pillows, etc. I just haven't had time so this room is my project for the next couple of days. In addition to the wrapper paper that will go on the wall with the window, I'm getting a new comforter, some more pillows and some type of covering for the window. I want people to feel at home in the room and it's just not happening right now, lol. I'm going with the colors of the rug Threepeat is sitting on (and on the nightstand) - light/dark blues, light greens and light yellows.

I'll post "After" pics!

Have you thought about turning the bed longways also??? Just an observation. What a fun project!! Can't wait to see the finished room.

I think I'd turn the bed longways, too. The colors sound great -- very relaxing and welcoming.

We did try... the room is only as wide as the bed so we wouldn't be able to put anything on either side for a nightstand. But I do have a smaller one that may fit... Hmm. Turning it that way will lose some of the space in there but it can't hurt to try.

Don't you be turning that bed by yourself or I'll come beat you up Heather! *tsk*

I want to see the after photos (That site has everything!, I could spend a fortune in there, I love wrapping stuff )

So I'm giving up and taking the easy way out. Okay okay. It's the expensive way out, but I'm hoping it's worth it. I posted a message on CraigsList and asked for interior designers (students welcome) to come in to that room and our "bar/game room" and put together some ideas. I was contacted by a guy and his partner who wanted the job - and were totally into my budget which is meager at best. (Under $1,000 for both rooms, including their fee.) One of them is currently in design school and the other's Mom was a designer, lol. I'll take it! They're both coming over tomorrow after work to look at the rooms and take photos. They'll come back on Thursday after work with a large board outlining both rooms that includes fabric swatches, paint color and other recommendations.

I'm so excited!

The best part? Mike left today for Ohio and won't be home until late Thursday night. Then he leaves again on Monday for the week. I can get both rooms done and it will be a total suprise to him! The bar/game room is going to be designed like a poker lounge - which is exactly what he wants!

Thanks! Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it, lol. If we can pull of a really nice poker lounge, that will be my 30th Bday gift for Mike, and maybe Xmas and our anniversary too.

That's such a sweet idea Heather! Maybe you could have a wee poker party for his birthday in his new poker lounge?

(not that it will end up being very small, judging by your house warming party! )

Yay! Glad it helped.

To update this situation too - the 2 guys who were supposed to come and give me a presentation for both rooms bailed on me. So, since Mike's travel schedule has been crazy, I decided to just tell him. He really wants us to work on it together. We've only started on the Guest bedroom and found a beautiful comforter set with pillow shams and a blanket too. Our color scheme for that room will be beige, black and garnet/burgundy. I found a bunch of inexepensive yet comfy pillows to match too. We'll also get an area rug and probably paint that white desk black.

I will definitely take a lot of before and after pics.
