bang head Las Vegas Wedding...

My boyfriend and i ahve been together for a while and we are pretty...uh..."low budget" right now, want to get married. we figured we didn't want a big shin dig, and have cancelled out the whole wedding party thing and figured it would cost us about $750-800 to get married in Las Vegas, including plane tickets, hotel, chapel, and marriage lisence. but there are some smaller details we aren't sure about, regarding flowers and what i am going to wear that is cost efficient. or what he is even going to wear. i dont know where i should start. should i chose a day and then set up reservations and plane tickets or what. man i need help with this. please comment.

thank you
~Allie

Welcome to PASH!

First thing I would do is find a date that will work for you both. Then make sure you can get the hotel and flight and every thing you need. There is a lot of places that you can rent a dress and buy flowers as a package deal. Call around and see what you can find. I had a friend that was married in the smokies and they paid one price for the room, her dress his tux, flowers, and a small heart shape cake.

Welcome to Pash! There are a lot of options in Vegas, I've had a couple of friends get married there. If you want to use one of the chapels at the casinos, you can call around to a few of them and check out their various packages. They'll have different options as to whether you have guests coming with, whether you'd like a small reception after, flowers, etc. etc. OR you could just go to one of the many wedding chapels out there-my friend got married at the one Britney Spears did. She just wore a nice dress she bought back home for the occasion, and her husband just wore some slacks and a button down. They were in town alone together, so they went to the chapel, got married, and then treated themselves to a night on the town. It really depends on what you want to do. Have fun planning!

My best guy friend just got married in Vegas in June. He wore jeans and a nice white poplin shirt (cowboy) she wore a dress she already owned.

They had a package with a limo from their hotel to the wedding and then limo ride back to the hotel. The wedding was like 10 min. but beautiful none the less.

Her family all came, half his family and me . We got hotel rooms and had a great time celebrating in each others rooms each night.

I definately call to set a date and time... then go from there. Also figure out how long you want to stay.

Mommy03, which location are you interested in? I had a bride who got married in January. She booked her ceremony through Always and Forever, too. They went to Valley of Fire State Park, the photo with the red rock arch, for the ceremony. I made arrangements for the reception at an Irish pub.

We found that you get only a brief amount of time at any facility. There are numerous couples lined up waiting for you to finish so they can be next, so it felt like an assembly-line wedding. However, the bride was the last in her family to marry and she wanted something different from what her siblings had and this was definitely it.

syringa,
well i really like the tropical bali hai resort, threw always and forever.

however, at the avictorias that's where we would have are reception at as well, so hopefully they will not have someone lined up right afterwards.

im really going to have to ask about that when we meet with different places.
thanks for giving me heads up.

one of my friends at work, said that his friends went to vegas and got married at a little chapel. he watched the video and he said it was the worst!
you can see them hurry them up and then they tell them exit to that side and they begin with the next wedding

on the other hand i have had some friends get married in vegas and they turned out really nice. i guess it depends

Are you planning on getting married in a small independent chapel or at one of the hotels? Either way, there are usually packages offered for those items. You can rent your dress (if needed) and his tux right on the strip!

Here's a chapel right on the strip:

Another Strip chapel:

You'll also need to get a marriage license from the Clerk's office in Clark County NV. They are open 24 hours.

Here's an example of one hotels packages:

I went to Vegas for my HM. We stayed in the Stratosphere- it's a great hotel for someone with a budget. My room was clean, spacious, and safe. All of the hotels (except Sahara, Circus Circus, and some of the other older hotels) are absolutely gorgeous IMO.

One of the girls I worked for got married in the Stratosphere, she said it wasn't very expensive & that it only cost $40 for the actual licence!!!

Cool! Running away to get married is the only way to go IMHO. It's much less stressful than planning a party.

Since you're doing this on your own you get to do anything you want. You can wear anything you want. You can have whatever flowers you want or have none at all. There are oodles of web resources devoted to destination weddings. The most helpful one i found is theknot.com . I leaned on that site a lot.

I couldn't talk my man into Vegas. We got hitched in Florida with two of our friends serving as officiants. I arranged everything myself by researching on the Internet. It was really beautiful and a real blast.

What do you want to wear? Do you want a wedding dress or would you prefer just to wear something nice? It's up to you. My man wore khaki pants, a nice linen shirt and the happiest smile I've ever seen. I found my destination wedding dress on the Internet, discounted 50% off the manufacturer's price, in stock for immediate delivery. I had minor alterations (which I could have done myself) completed by a local seamstress. My veil came from EBAY. My bouquet consisted of several different types of flowers I bought at a supermarket and tied together myself. It was just gorgeous and cost a whopping $9.

I can give you a list of websites to check for inexpensive wedding stuff if you want. Send me a private email if you're interested.

Good luck and congratulations. This should be fun for both of you.

Default Oh I almost forgot....

I read last week that Las Vegas will not offer 24 hour marriage licenses anymore. The office is going to start closing every night at Midnight. Budget cuts, you know.
