Does anyone have any unique ideas for bombonieres/favors. I don't really want to give our guests something that they wont use but I'm having a hard time finding something that will stand out and still be reasonably priced.

This isn't unique but I bought 220 white votive candles from the Christmas Tree Shoppe and a roll of white mesh material. I wrapped individual candles in the mesh, tied with a white ribbon and each guest received one at their place at a table. It wasn't fancy, but everyone likes candles. The total cost was about $140.00 for about 200 guests.

We're making coasters out of resin. Following the directions on the resin container, pour one 1-inch layer of resn/catalyst mixture into a mold (we're using plastic take-out soup containers). When the mixture starts to gel, place objects on top and push down gently (we used sand dollars with our names & date written on them in gold paint marker and surrounded them w/ small shells, but you can use whatever you want). Add a second layer of resin/catalyst on top of that.

It sounds complicated, but it's easy once you get started.

Costs:
Sand dollars: 7 dozen for $30 on E-Bay
Small shells: free (took from beach)
Resin/Catalyst: don't know how much it was, but we try to keep that cost down by using Michael's coupons from the Sunday paper.
Paint marker - about $1.50 each (they wear down easily because of the sand dollar's rough surface - we needed 1 for every 15 favors, but you may not have to).

I wrapped pieces of gum with a new label that said "Sticking together from this day forward. Margie and Brad May 1, 2004" it was a total hit! The kids that were at my reception were running around picking up extra pieces to take home with them at the end of the night, it was really cute. I also ordered the cards with bells on them from Oriental Trading Company. They have a saying on them to "ring for a kiss" I wouldn't use these again. The bells were cheap and you couldn't hear them. People had to clank on their glasses anyway.

My sister did something cute for my shower, though. She bought small decorative bags and put a candle, matches, and candy inside each one. She used matches in the box from the grocery store and then recovered them with Save the Date info. The candles were in a holder that said "Love is friendship set on fire" She ordered all of this stuff from Oriental Trading Company and Michaels. She's a bargain shopper, so I can't imagine it cost her all that much.

We gave every couple a set of four wine glass "markers". I don't really know what they are called. They are a metal ring with different coloured beads on each one, and it goes around the bottom of the wine glass. It is for a dinner party or such when everyone has a wine glass, they can tell which is theirs. It cost us $80.00 Canadian for 55 people, but we had some left over. $80 CAN = $59 US (approx.)

One item I am having is silver personalized pencils (Oriental Trading)... our names and a special verse... another small note- Oriental Trading personalized a lot of stuff free. Another thing I looked into was magnets- from a business supply store they're not very high and you can do a lot with design and wording.
