Default Shadow Box

Not sure if it's the right area, but it's sort of a DIY. My sister bought us a shadow box for my shower gift. It was really cute, and I finally got around to getting it done.

It was a kit and came with the papers and embellishments. I have enough left over I think I'm going to make a second "background" and rotate them every so often. Just thought I'd share!

I love shadow boxes. My MIL made me a small one of little things from our wedding. And, I made a larger one from our honeymoon.

I have to steal your idea!

I might even make a little gift for the wedding I was at last weekend!

Lightbulb

The ones DH got me were from Sears.

Here is a pic:

They can be hung on the wall or stood on a table. The outside is wood in either walnut or black finish. They have a magnetic closure and come with black headed straight pins for securing items to the inside. The back is made of styrofoam covered in cloth. The cloth is nice, because if you decide to move something it doesn't show the hole from where you initially placed the item.

They cost ~$30. Click Here to go to the Sears page for their description and purchase info.

Maybe I'll actually get a pic of my finished one on here to show you sometime soon. But, don't hold your breath. LOL

ETA: I guess I could at least descibe it for you. I put an 8x10 pic that was taken of DH and me at the luau we went to on Maui in the back ground. Then I attached a dried bamboo orchid that I had worn in my hair in the upper left corner. I hung a shell lei dangling across the front. And, in the bottom I put some sand that we brought back with us and an oyster shell and pearl that I got there. (It was one of those jewelry places where you pick your oyster and they open it in front of you. My oyster had 2 pearls. I only wanted one for a necklace. So, I kept the other and the oyster shell to use for the memory box.)
