Michael's bride and foreversoulmates, what did you use for the body? It really looks good. I want to make my own veil too.

I used tulle from Joanns. It already had the little crystal-ly looking things on it. If i could do it all over again, i might use a wider tulle but i doubt anyone else would have noticed the difference.

I have that link on my site.
The pattern companies also have some wonderful designs as well.

A friend of mine did a cathedral length veil with small crystals glued to it. I thought it would be over-the-top, but it turned out quite nicely.

Those veils are beautiful! and you two were both beautiful brides! I want to make a veil for my son's fiance who is also my best friend even though we are 24 years apart! We are doing everything ourselves due to budget and I have seen several veils she has loved. Do you think it would be ok to make one and surprise her (long before the wedding) or should I ask her first?

I would ask... if you make one and she has her heart set on something else, she might feel like she HAS to use the one you made. I bet if you show her how easy it is, she'll love for you to do it!

Thanks for the replies, I did ask her and she was really excited for me to do it. She only asked for input on the length and that she wanted it sparkly so I am getting ready to start on it! I told her I would have it done long before the wedding and she could see it then, just it case! She said she couldn't imagine not liking anything I made. I'm so glad were so close and we don't horrible in-law stories!

That is awesome that you are close to your daughter-in-law to be. Me and my fiancee are lucky as well that our in-laws to be are in great relationship. I think that is the best way to go to have a healthy marriage.

As for the veil, I can't find the crystal looking at Michaels...I am not sure if I am looking at the right place or what? Anyway, any help will do. Thanks.

I made mine too, only from a Simplicity pattern. It looks okay, but I think I made the blusher waaaay too short! It looks okay when it's all back, but when I bring it forward, it sits just about my bust, a few inches below my chin...is it supposed to be that short?
