Default Other Father/Daughter Songs

These are just some other good songs that are on the typical mainstay song list you see.

Natalie Grants, I'll Always Be Your Baby

Tim McGraw, "My Little Girl"

Peter Cetera "Daddy's Girl"

Jimmy Buffet "Little Miss Magic"

Conway Twitty "That's my Job"

And of course the one we've been talking about
Heartlands "I Loved Her First"

feel free to add yours to the list so others will have a central list
I like Limewire.com to listen to the whole song

It's an old song by an artist named "Lulu" - it was the theme song for a movie with the same title; Sidney Poitier was in this movie.

My Dad does ballroom dancing, so he picked the "Tennessee Waltz" (no words) for us to dance to.

Smile

It was! We practiced two times before the wedding so he could teach me some of the fancier moves. But, it was nice not to just be swaying back and forth the whole time.

I had Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. I heard the song I think in like high school (early) a COUPLE of times then finally heard it again a few yrs later and my Mom happen to be in the car and I said that was it (referring to it was going to be my Father/Daughter Dance).

Here is a site with the lyrics: http://www.oracleband.net/Lyrics/butterfly_kisses.htm

We used "In My Arms" by Mark Wills...it was PERFECT!!

Three a.m. on the clock
Lullaby, music box
Oh, baby please don't cry
Let's let mama sleep tonight
You've only been home one day
You don't even know your name
Tiny hand on my cheek
You;re a miracle to me
In the still ness of the night
Cradled in this rocking chair
I hold all my hopes and dreams,
Every single answered prayer

In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms

As I watch you take each breath
Oh, it scares me to death
To know you're counting on me
To be the daddy that you need
Wounded knees, broken hearts
Learning how to drive a car
When it's time for your first date
Will I know just what to say
And when you find that one true love
I'll put on my best smile
And I'll try to hide my tears
As I walk you down the aisle

In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms

Oh, this promise I will keep
As you finally fall asleep...in my arms

There is this one, which I think is sweet, Gracie by Ben Folds. He wrote it for his daughter, hence the title, but I really think it captures something universal about the daddy/daughter relationship. Here are the words:

You can't fool me, I saw you when you came out
You got your momma's taste but you got my mouth
And you will always have a part of me
Nobody else is ever going to see
Gracie girl

With your cards to your chest walking on your toes
What you got in the box only Gracie knows
And I would never try to make you be
Anything you didn't really want to be
Gracie girl

Life flies by in seconds
You're not a baby Gracie, you're my friend
You'll be a lady soon but until then
You gotta do what I say

You nodded off in my arms watching TV
I won't move you an inch even though my arm's asleep

One day you're gonna want to go
I hope we taught you everything you need to know
Gracie girl

And there will always be a part of me
Nobody else is ever gonna see but you and me
My little girl
My Gracie girl

ETA: I made so many typos in this!!!
