Green for an outdoor Celtic wedding??
We're planning to have an outdoor wedding/reception with a Celtic theme since both mine and my FH's ancestry is Irish. We're considering including handfasting in the ceremony using cords made of his family's county's tartan. The tartan is very dark - in reds & greens. (The family tartan is a little prettier, in shades of green & brown, but it wasn't developed until 2004, so I don't feel it is very "authentic")
I had originally planned on violet/shades of purple, that won't look good with the tartan... plus my sister swears she looks horrible in purple and I don't think I could get the boys to wear it either :-P.
So I'm considering green (like sage), to go with the tartan and the Celtic theme - except I'm afraid it will blend in to the outdoor setting.
Any opinions/suggestions?
Here's a link to example cords (in green, we would use the tartan instead of the embelished ribbon):

I think it will work well. I also used the colors from the plaid we used for our wedding.

 Margie! That's awesome!
Julz, I love sage green. I don't think it would get lost at an outdoor wedding, but if you were really concerned, you could always just go with a deeper shade like this (just posting to show the color I'm thinking of).

To Marge- While our last name is not Irish, legend (according to dad - not sure where he got it) has it that an ancestor from Ireland with our last name settled on a farm in WV with his first wife and they had 10 kids. She died and he subsequently had 10 kids with his second wife - thus pupulating all of WV with people with our last name. At some point I hope to find this in writing somewhere, but I haven't had the resources to go in depth with our geneaology yet (if you're bored...) FYI, great-great grampa Banks was a Scottish duke or something like that.
How do I imsert an image in my reply? I found an image of the family tartan that was developed in 2004...

You should check out Ann's pics. Her FGs wore sage, and she has some outdoor pics with them.

I think sage will work but I also think kinda of a golden color, not actaully gold would look pretty with that tartan or a green/brown color. Something like this:
Maybe something a little warmer though, I'll see if I can find an example.

Here is the 2004 family tartan:
I think sage or a golden color would go well with it also.

I don't think you'd blend into the outdoors with sage green. Mine had navy blue on, and it didn't blend in at all with the dark greens and such.

I think sage would be beautiful. It won't blend in to much, I think it would be perfect.
