I was just wondering when it would be a good time to register. I was thinking about going in the beginning of september. I was just going to go to WALMART is there any other good places to register

That depends. I'm still working on our registries, and we're a little under four months away. I just had time this summer in between semesters and figured I'd get it done. Wal-Mart definitely has all sorts of useful stuff, but think about stuff you need. Are you interested in china? Speciality housewares? There are all sorts of great stores to register at, but it's really dependant on what kinds of things you and your fiance need/want as gifts. Maybe if you made a list of things you want and went from there? Or did a walk through Wal-Mart to see if everything you wanted is available? I think we're registered at three places (Dillards, Williams-Sonoma, and Bed Bath and Beyond), but it's really up to you! Have fun with it!

I registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond; Dillards; and Sears. Bed, Bath, and Beyond was great for returns and exchanges. (They will give you cash for any item if you decide to return it.) Dillards was polite, but not as individually helpful. (They will only trade out for store credit.) I didn't have anything to take back to Sears, so I don't remember their policy.

I would register 3 to 4 months out from your wedding day. If you register too early, many of your items can and probably will be discontinued and you would have to continually update it.

where ever u choose to register at, i would look into their return policies. wal-mart is so bad on returns even if u have registered there. i have found out in the past that alot of people dont let the cashier know that the items are from a register list so therefore u end up with alot of duplicate stuff. so my advice to u is to talk to the mangers and get there names so if it does happen then they have to honor what they said.

Target, Dillards, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond are good places to register too! I would check into return policies as well. I know Dillards is good to work with since I returned some things without a receipt about 9 months after we were married and they gave me the store credit for the items.

I registered about 5-6 months out, but my shower was really early.
The others have mentioned some great places to register. I would try to choose a couple of different places just to give your guests some options. Try to think of where they all are located (if they are spread out at all) and what will be easy for them. Here in LA, Walmart is not easily accessible, unless your in a far away suburb. So, just something to think about.
I registerd at JC Penney (for the folks back home in Iowa), Crate and Barrel, and Target.

I would also register at more than one store to give guests a range of prices to choose from. And maybe places where your guests can shop, or at least browse your registry, online.

We just recently registered -- it's about 5 1/2 months out for us -- but we mostly did it now because my fiancé is entering a police academy that he will be in until a month before we get married, so we wanted to do it while he still had the energy to contribute and enjoy it. I figure I can always update it with comprable items should ours be discontinued, but if waiting would have been convienient for us, we would have just to avoid that hassle.

Most of the stores over here don't let you put items on your list until 3 months before the wedding. That is generally how ofthen the update the stock... I would register at a couple of places, but I personally think it looks a bit greedy to go for more that 3 stores! Even if you're registering for only a couple of items at each. Plust it'd be a huge PITA for you guests to shop around them all...
I'd recommend ones that have online facilities, that was really handy for us.
And quite a few of the ladies have raved about B,B & B. I've not heard one single bad report about their registry on here

We did three stores for more choices for our guests, not to be greedy. We just wanted to make it easy for everyone. I think that most people have those 1 or 2 stores that they expect you will register at, and they will check there. once they find your registry, then they really don't look elsewhere. I think many won't even know that you are registered at multiple stores. Just my opinion.

Forgot to say when we registered!! We began registering with about 6 months to go. I was away at school so I registed whenever it was convienient to go home for a short visit. We registered at Dillards, Target, and a home town shop called The Corner Pharmacy and Gifts.
