Default choosing a color(s) for my dress

I found my dress but have to make a decision on what to order. Choices: solid white, solid ivory, or either of those two with various accent colors. (there is a flow-y tiny train that starts towards the front then flows from the back that would have the accent color.)
Issues: My FI isn't 100% sure if he wants khakis and an off-white shirt, dark suit and tie, or formal wear.....
Questions: If he chose an off-white shirt, would a white dress be bad with that?
Would any color (accent) look really bad with either white or ivory? (I'm leaning towards blues)

I'm trying to find a picture of the dress but I didn't even find out the designer when I was at the shop. Hope to have one soon.

I think you in white and him in off white wouldn't be bad. Any color is going to accent fine with white, and I think with ivory I'd lean towards "warm" colors to accent.

sparklesweetie - That's what I was hoping for. I'll never be able to get a definite answer from him fast enough to order my dress.

It's really pretty, but I don't think I'd do an accent colour on it. I think it'd look pretty enough as a solid colour... And it'll be more bridal in one shade. But I'm no really help on picking which shade coz it won't let me change the colours on the dress properly

I think it will stand out better from your guests attire if it doesn't have any other colours on it...

If he picks the khakis and off-white shirt, it might look pretty for you to pick either white with the accent in ivory or the other way around. Just a thought.

Good idea. I'll run that by the girls at the bridal shop and see what their opinions are.

To be totally honest, I'm not sure I want my dress to be too bridal. If I could wear it again ever, that just makes that much better of a wedding dress. I hated the idea of going to all this trouble to find a dress I love that I couldn't wear again.

What colors are you using at your wedding?

My dress is also one that can be worn again. i specifically wanted it that way. I chose to go with more of an ivory color because im certainly not pristine enough to pull off bright white . Plus i think it will look less wedding-y when i wear it later.

Alot of people don't mind white and ivory together. I personally don't care for them.
I would probably go with the ivory dress with or without accent color (might be pretty with latte accents?) because then your FI can still choose casual or formal wear... tux rentals give you the option of ivory or white shirts .

I really don't have wedding colors. There's no bridal party.

We were leaning towards white with the Bahama Breeze accent color. Any thoughts?

Then if you want a color, I like Breezy's idea of a latte color, kind of a sand color. Or you could do a light blue like the sky or ocean.

I agree, though like Ann, I can't change the colors on their web site correctly. I do white and get something gray looking.........

I had the same problem with the website.

I have seen another dress by the designer in the white and ivory. I greatly prefered the white over the ivory. Can't explain the why...just because.

I'm very afraid to order this dress with an accent color. What if I hate it!?!? If I order all white, I will never be able to wear it again. I'm so confused. Plus my FI keeps saying it's not a very "bridal" dress .....I don't get it, it's a beach wedding...I hate decisions.

Is there a store even relatively close to you that has it so you could go try it on? Maybe that would help determine if you want a color or not and if it's the perfect dress or not.

I would be careful about this, because if the contrast isn't obvious enough, your dress might just make his shirt look dirty in pictures.

I really like the one in the link you posted, but I don't think the colors are quite right online.

You may be able to order sample fabrics from the website.

I've tried on the sample in the shop but it's the website. They had a bridal dress from this designer in white and a BM dress in the Bahama Breeze color. I tried the white and we held the BM dress up near it to see the colors. I think it looked fine, I'm just nervous b/c of it being a final sale.

Making his shirt appear dirty is exactly the type of thing I was worried about. I really didn't like the ivory though. I think I may be OK b/c he told me last night, he's thinking he wants to get a black silk suit, white shirt, tie to match whatever my dress is, and decide the day of if he wants to even wear his jacket. That might make my decision that much easier.

You all are the best.

The dress is lovely.

I think the white with the Bahama Breeze sash will be great. If you do it that way, will your FH wear a Bahama Breeze colored tie or a white one?

OK, so now I'm running into a new issue. Our reception back home. The place we are 99% sure we want to book has black pink and purple lighting and accents in the room. Can I pool off a blue-ish accent on my dress with those colors for the room. (we are wearing our wedding attire) I had planned to coordinate the color I chose for the dress with all the decorating. I'm just not as crazy about pink or purple... Do I just give up, order the dress in all white and forget about ever being able to wear it again.

I'm sorry Lizbet, i just realized you asked a question.
I wanted to try to find a tie with a bit of the same color as my dress if it's a print or in a solid color. But I am leaving that 100% up to him. (crossing my fingers)

You know, I have never noticed whether or not a bride's dress clashed with her surroundings and I doubt anyone will expect you to match the reception site. Don't fret! The dress you want will be beautiful!

Ditto. I woudn't worry about it. Unless of course the colors are obnoxious in your reception room, which 9 times out of 10, they aren't.
