My first message board!
Hi everyone! I'm Michele and I'm getting married on Jan. 12, 2008. This is the very first message board I've ever joined, so I'm kind of new to the whole thing and I'm not very tech savvy. But I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new people, especially other Jan. '08 brides.

Welcome to Pash! This was actually the first forum I'd joined too... (I hadn't been back in a "chat room" since the early 90s ) It might take a wee while to find your way around, but just shout out if you have any questions...

Thanks everyone
Thanks for being so welcoming everybody. I thought I'd share a little bit more about myself. I am a senior in college. My fiance is also a student. He also composes music for online video games and helps teach marching band at our old school. We went to school together since first grade and were in the marching band together for four years, but we didn't start dating until our senior year of high school. Our four year dating anniversary will be in October. We became engaged on Dec. 17, 2005. I had just hosted a Christmas dinner at our apartment for my parents and my sister and her family (my family is spread out all over KY). It was a great day and everything went smoothly and it was great to see everyone that day. They all left early that evening and as soon as they left he said he wanted to give me my Christmas present early. He couldn't wait for them to leave he was so excited. I knew the whole time what he was planning to do. In true Bobby fashion, he proposed while we were alone in our apartment (He's pretty shy). He held me in his arms and said that he thought we could jump on the engagement bandwagon and gave me the ring. It was a beautiful three-stone diamond and white gold ring. I was surprised because I told him that I had wanted an emerald, I wanted something non-traditional (I also didn't want him to spend as much as he did) and that was what I was expecting. I think he thought I didn't like it at first but I was just surprised by how beautiful the ring was. I still stare at it when the light catches it and it sparkles. I was giddy the rest of the night. It wasn't this really sappy cheesy romantic moment, but that's not really us. The whole thing was just perfect for us. It was simple and low-key, just like us.
Anyway. As for the wedding planning, I've started doing some preliminary planning on paper. I am planning on a winter themed wedding with the colors white, silver and dark purple. I've got lots of great ideas and can't wait to get even more. I'm actually going to be a BM in a wedding in October and I'm going to use that as a learning experience too.

My First Time Here
Hello, I am getting married January 5, 2008 and am soo excited! Our wedding colors are red and silver. The dresses are red, and the silver comes into play with accents, especially decorative snowflakes! If anyone has any suggestions for a January wedding please let me know! Or if anyone just wants to share info with me get in touch!

Glad to Meet You!
Hey AshNJam08!!
I'm so glad to finally meet another Jan. '08 bride! You're the first one I've found!! I'm getting married just a week after you! Our colors are going to be dark purple (think eggplant) and silver and white. We are also doing a winter theme, w/ snowflakes etc. I have lots of ideas, actually. One thing I really want is Bare trees painted white or silver, w/ white fabric draped around the base, maybe at the entrance to the reception hall or in the hall. That's just one thing I have in mind, though. I can't wait to talk to you some more and find out more about your wedding plans!

I'm a January girl, too, only in '07. After my wedding, I'm sure I will have a lot of tips you ladies could take advantage of!

Hey
Hey Michelle, Yes the tree idea is a nice concept for your wedding! The only wintery theme we are really doing is snowflakes. The eggplant color will look gorgeous against the white and silver of your wedding and of outside! I can't wait to talk to you either. If you have AOL instant messebger you can get ahold of me there to talk if you want. It's AshleeWantsU, I know it's corny but I made it up about two years ago and haven't felt like changing it! Talk to you soon!!

Ash - I moved your post with your engagement story to a separate thread under "Bridal Journals" so that your story stands out from this thread.
Welcome to Pash!
