Good Luck!

I have an appointment there today and have had both good and bad service, from my observations, between my wedding and my sisters we've been in like 8 times, the older women offer better service then the younger gals, it's almost like the younger ones just could care less.

I bought my dress there plus all my bridal party dresses there and didn't have a problem, they were actually very kind and all dresses came in within 2 weeks! I have no complaints, but I wonder if it all boils down to the store manager and what they allow their employees to pull. I seriously would not allow a lot of the things to happen that I have heard (they'd be w/o a job instantly) but not all managers care about their stores, just their paycheck! Hope you have a good experience there, I did.

I was not allowed to bring a camera into the bridal shop I bought my dress at. I could only take a picture there after I had already put a down payment on the dress. It was very strict. But I do hope you have a good time

Yeah, after I read m_t_rose's post I called them up and asked them if it was OK, they said it was fine.

I want to look at one other bridal shop as well, but they never answer their phone, and now I don't even get an answering machine anymore, so I am kinda wondering if I really even want to buy my dress at a shop I can't get ahold of.

I am still going to davids of course.

I had a GREAT experience at an Iowa store, and they were just okay at the Burbank store. Thankfully I had already picked out and purchased my dress from the other store, but the alterations went fine and so did the purchase of the BM dresses. I think it's good you're going on a weekday. You should get better service then b/c it's not a busy day. Should is the key word there though. Good luck! I also suggest looking online before you go so you have an idea of what you like there. Just my opinion.

Yeah I already printed out the dresses I want to look at so I don't forget the ones that really catch my eye on the web sight, I am going to take the print outs with me when I go. Man am I anal or what?
I guess I have a little excuse being the store is 45 miles away. There are no good bridal shops in my town.

If they're anything like the one I went to, they'll sit you down with a catalog and tell you to earmark the pages of the dresses that you like. Then they'll pull those dresses for you, and maybe some others they think you might also like. Just make sure you tell them if you have any demands. I didn't want sleeveless, so I made sure she knew not to pull any of those for me.

HAVE FUN!!

I am working this morning and taking the afternoon off to drive to Fort Collins with my mom (who is also unnaturally excited) to look at the dresses. I just got home, and I am exhausted, I never thought it would be THAT much work to put on and take off wedding dresses all afternoon.

We went to the Bridal Suite, I loved thier dresses and the service was wonderful, and there is a great little Italian Resteraunt two doors down, which is always a plus.

We went to Davids Bridal next, most of the ladies working there were very nice, but unfortunatly I got stuck with the one girl who seemed to hate her job, she was helpfull but seemed to be in a rush to get us out of there the whole time.

My mom just emailed me the pictures she took, I look horrible in all of them, never looking at the camera or smiling . I will still post them but I have to go thru them right now and save them to disk then I will post.

I would be concerned about buying my dress somewhere where I couldn't get them to answer the phone.

I bought mine there... They all know me by name, although I was a little upset when they talked my mother into buying me a fitted bra to go underneath and she got the wrong cup size (there is no way I can fill out a C!!). They refused to exchange it even though it was still in the packaging and it was the next day. But a little hint for you, I bought David's bridal's veil and tiara that I saw in the store off of Ebay brand new with tags and saved $200!!!!!!!!!!!! Just make sure to check the seller's feedback before you bid. They are perfect!!!

Default My experience at David's Bridal

Their prices were to die for. We got a great dress for a really great price (since we were on a budget) but when we went back after taking 2 inches off the dress ourselves, they said they couldn't iron it and guarantee it. That meant that they could spill ink on it, and not be liable. That really upset us. The dress came back pressed OK, but the stress of them having us sign a liability clause just because we hemmed a dress (which they wanted more than we paid for the dress)was terrible. I suppose it depends on whether you got all kinds of $$$ to spend or not. Thought you should know. Also, if you're looking for a card box, check out the one I had to make since I didn't like the ones available. www.royalorchards.net

mattard - keep your solicitations of your cardbox business to the classified ad section. This is a discussion about dresses.

I would like to congratulate all of you with positive experiences at DB , and commiserate with all of you with less than satisfactory experiences . I have heard stories at both ends of the spectrum . You must remember that DB is a chain store. Individual experiences depend on the local employees of each store. There are employees that care about their job and their customer service, and those that are there only to draw a paycheck. As a (even potentially) paying customer, you are entitled to cordial service and respect. If you do not receive this, ask for the manager. You are the one spending money, make them earn it, without being unreasonable.
Although some of you have had good experiences with their alterations, I have heard (and corrected) nothing but disasters or near so where I am . I am a professional and command professional prices, but they are individually priced. I have heard many stories of DB's "minimums" for certain alterations that were totallly out of line with the labor involved. I also fit personally every alteration I do, and would not dream of altering someone else's "fitting".
Many DB's "contract" alterations, with no recourse for the bride whose gown is still ill-fitting.
Also remember that a proper gown fitting (unless it is only a hem and bustle) requires more than one fitting. Alterations should be verified, from bodice to skirt, and progress accordingly.
