Default Wedding/family reunion

I'm hearing more about couples who have their wedding on the Saturday and then attend a big, informal family reunion on the Sunday...since everyone's in town. Is anyone else planning this kind of thing as part of their wedding weekend festivities?

Thanks!

Sharon

I had a breakfast at the hotel the morning after the wedding and invited all OOT guests (mostly my family) - does that count?

My parents did that, but DH and I left too early for our honeymoon to attend.

That's pretty much how I saw mine. My aunt, uncle and cousins are in Alaska and Ohio. so I don't get to see them nearly as often as I'd like, and I was really looking forward to that part and spending as much time with them as possible.

Oh yeah, I'm planning on doing that.

I remember at my sister's wedding I didn't have time to even say HI to all our family who was in from out of town - and I wasn't even the bride. So I want to make sure there is time for that at our wedding. My FH and I both have HUGE families, and family is very important to us, plus we have lots of friends who will be coming in - our guest list is almost 300 "must-invites". So, I'm hoping to have many little events throughout the weekend in addition to the "main event." Here's the schedule:

Friday night: Rehersal dinner w/ FH's family (they all live around here) and Bridal party/spouses. I figure most OOT guests (which is my whole family and all our other friends) probably won't get in until late Friday or even Saturday, so this is a good time to visit withhis fam (who I see every holiday anyway :-P)

Saturday Day: We have a really nice park here which offers $10 day passes for everything from mini-golf to a zoo. I plan on renting a pavillion and "advertising" that friends and family can stop by anytime and say hi to us, while they enjoy the parks amenities. We have a LOT of little cousins in the family who will need theentertaining. I may even have the hair dresser come there :-P My FH husband also plans on going golfing with his friends and my dad/brother, and if we can afford it I'd like to offer snacks & drinks at the pavillion.

Saturday Evening: Wedding & Reception
Saturday Night: After party with our HS/college friends and younger relatives. Plus possibly an "early" after party for my mom & her siblings (mom, as well, was running around at my sister's wedding).

Sunday morning: Farewell Breakfast for Bridal Party & my family. Hopefully they can stop by and get breakfastwith us and/or grab some snacks from the road. Since we only really see our family at weddings & funerals (and I'm the only cousin left to get married), I really want to snap a family portrait here too.

We're lucky that around here there are a few venues (B&Bs) that you can rent for the entire weekend, so I don't have to search out a location for each of these events. The farewell breakfast is even included in one of the packages

Well, those are my ideas The wedding isn't until Summer '08 so I'm sure the game plan will change 1,000 times before then. I'd welcome everyone's input!
