Default Wedding Stationery For The Millenium

We are the brides of the new millenium.

We hunt online for our dress, ebay for centerpieces, and share information daily with each other on any number of wedding planning communities online.

Couples today even create wedding websites --- where crucial event informationused to have to be sent via word-of-mouth, or by phone call or letter, we now are able to post everything dealing with the in one place.

But where on the invitation can we put the link? Most won't add a URL to their invitations (I won't) -- it just doesn't look right there. Most don't even have them on their save the date cards, because, with the popularity of small magnets being on the rise, there usually is no room for it.

Also, the website itself may not acutally be up and running at the time the save the dates are sent.

One way around this dilemma that I have thought of (and that I really thing should be added to all modern wedding stationery set) is a website announcement card.

This is a card that can be created to let people know you have a website where they can get the lates news on your wedding (especially unexpected date changes), hotel accomodations, travel directions, and more. You can even introduce your bridal party, and put your registry information here (which is a way around the sticky siutation of telling people where you are registered without having to put it somewhere inappropriate -- like your invitation or save the date card.)

Here are my new website announcement cards, I created two; one in postcard size, so you can send it by itself a little after sending out your save the dates, and a smaller one that can be inserted with the rest of your invitation set.

Post card Website Announcement Card:

Insert Website Announcement card:

By the way, that IS the acutal website address for our vow renewal website, but it is being created at the moment, so there is nothing there -- yet.

Would love feedback on this idea.

Those are awesome! I think many would find them useful. I printed out business sized cards that I included in our inviations that had our website on it. No one seemed to mind too much.

Again, they look great!!

I sent out a newsletter when we created our "wed-site" to all those that use the internet.

We also included it on our RSVP cards... "or RSVP online at ...."

So are you really having a vow renewal or was this just a way to show off your designs?

um, 555Ann555, YES, we REALLY are having a vow renewal ceremony and after 7 years (by then) , we have been through a lot, sacrificed and really worked hard for it, especially as a military family, and I want to pull out all the stops.

I am a NOT an invitation wedding designer and have no desire to become one. I am studying to become a psychologist. Web site and graphics design has been a serious hobby of mine for the last ten years, and I enjoy it. I am just glad I can now put it to some good use to cut the costs of my event.

I host two wedding-related blogs of my own, and I am also a contributor to the WeddingBee and DCNealywed blogs; my posts are daily displayed there as well, so I have the "showing off my designs" angle pretty much covered without having to post any of them here.

I share my designs because I want to inspire others who may be having the same ideas but don't know where to start, or may not have any idea that there are other options to paying extra-high prices for things you can do youself, as I have seen other here do with their floral bouquests, reception and ceremony decorations, favor tags and centerpieces.

There are so many women like me that, due to circumstance, finance or both, never got to have the "wedding of their dreams." A vow renewal is chance for them to do that, and I wanted to have an opportunity to talk with other who might be doing the same thing, and just belong to a community who liked to talk weddings as much as I do.

Because I am home sick, on a lot meds for pain and to stave off infection, and not currently working, and my husband's unit is preparing for Iraq and working 12-14 hours a day, I have a lot of time on my hands -- more than I care for. Working on this wedding stationery has been the first thing I have done since I got sick that has made me feel like I am a productive person, and sharing this work has been a joy for me.

It also makes me feel like I am making a contribution to this community and not just coming here searching for answers. I want to help others as I can, and this is my way of doing so. I don't have a lot of experience with weddings as many members here, but I do have expierence with this, so I am sharing what I can.

If any person here ever asked me, I would be more than happy to show them how they, too, can design their own stationery and save money. I would also be happy share my templates, if they like (for free).

We will not be having the ceremony where we are currently living, so taking care of the stationery is really the only thing I can do right now in preparation, but I did share that selected my BM dresses in another thread.

I really like coming here several times a day -- not just for the wedding talk, but for the cameraderie, possible friendships and just sharing with others. I have a lot of very lonely days, and coming here has helped that a lot.

And THAT is why I am here.

No other reason.

Fair enough.
I'm sure everyone will welcome your contributions , help and advice.

I was suspicious because we have had people on here in the past who have used the site to advertise their own services by pretending to be planning a wedding.

We have had a few people try to be sneaky & clever about their spam. One I remember well posted under a couple of different names saying that they had recently been married/were getting married and recommending services of a supplier who was actually them. Noone would have objected had they just been honest & put it in the classified area. We always welcome ways to save money.

At the same time we have vendors on here who are very much part of the community, and are made welcome because of the insight they offer. I think they fitted in so well because they were free with their advice and experience, but weren't pushy about their products.

I hope you don't feel less welcome because I was suspicious, and I'm sure you'll understand now why I asked.

Thumbs up

I think the cards are a great idea! Everything you do looks so professional. If you had been here in time for my wedding, I definitely would have asked for your help.

EAT: I think that is what made Ann suspicious. It's just so VERY good. And, your write up (post) sounded professional as well.
