I just did some research online to try to find some directions for you and it doesn't sound easy!! I just Googled "How to dye crinoline" and got a lot of info. Try that. Good luck. It's a really cool idea. Or maybe you could hire someone to do it for you...

I'm sure you'll find some way to do it! Where there's a will, there's a way, right?

Rit Dye, which is super cheap and can be bought at walmart for under $2 would definitely work and if your washing machine has a soak cycle it would work great. There's actaully directions on the package. If you don't have a washing machine you can do it on the stove in a giant pot.
Make sure you run some old towels through the machine before you do a regular load cause color may still be in the machine.

The square dance ones come in great colors but they tend to be shorter... like come only to the knees.

What if you just added some blue fabric around the bottom of your crinoline? Just a thought...

I just called mom to ask how hard it would be to make one. She said if you already have your slip to go buy some blue netting really stiff netting and add it to the bottom. Is that possible for you to do?
She said if you die it then if you get your dress a little wet it might rub off on it.

I'm attacking this this week, and luckily found instructions from someone that recently did this
Directions from kreeves72 knot bio
Ok finally dyed the crinoline!! I think it came out “perfect”! I used Rit powder dye - Evening Blue (one box). I made the dye bath (2 cups hot water mixed with the dye), and poured into the washer that was filled with hot water and a very little detergent. I let it agitate a little.
Next I wet the crinoline using hot water in the shower. Then I added it to the washing machine using rubber gloves. Three times during the whole process I took it out of the machine and untangled the mess!
Ran it through on the wash part of the washing cycle twice on reg. setting. Then I let it run all the way through the wash cycle on “delicates” (after the wash part was through all I did was turn the knob to delicates to let it finish). I then actually washed it all the way through again in the “delicate” cycle. Took it out, got it all straightened out and then hung it on the line to dry!! Very easy!! No rips or anything! Love how the little lace along the bottom stayed white! ---also no hurt to the washing machine, just followed direction on the Rit box, run a cycle of bleach through the washing machine using hot water when all done! Nothing turned blue!

I'll let you know how the process worked for me this week

Dyed Crinoline.
The lace in the picture did not turn blue because it is polyester/nylon and you (undwer normal circumstances) cannot dye plastic. Your best bet would be to buy tulle in the color you want and sew it into your slip. Be careful if you do try to dye it, if it has the least bit of polyester in it it will turn tie dyed. Good Luck!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Grubbs

It worked out well. The pic doesn't really show the true color at all.
I wanted a brighter blue; however.... EVEN though I live in a city with the population of over 80,000 our retail supply is limited and the shelves for RIT dye were bare. I ened up with liquid denim blue dye.
The color ended up a pale light blue in a darker shade. It's pretty and doesn't show through my dress at all. My lace dyed too!! The whole skirt is the same color as the waistband... the waistband is actually darker. The pics make it seem really dingy or silvery to me.

The pics do make it look silvery, but I'm sure that's just how the reflected light played with the camera. I'm glad you were able to get it done. I can't wait to see a pic of you on the wedding day showing off your blue crinoline.
