I got the empty gift card from my grandmother. My mother ask her about it and she said she did put money on it. She sent us a check after that. I wasn't going to say any thing but my mother just had too.
Some of the things on the list is just too funny!

Hahahah-those were great! I loved the framed invitation to someone else's wedding...talk about not being able to let go!
I wouldn't mind the George Foreman (we're registered for one). Although I don't know what I'd do with SIX...

Tony's aunt gave us this Sensual Massage book that had pretty obscene pics!! Tony and I aren't shy by any means, but I just didn't expect that from her. And it came with this Massage Mit or something. We've never used either, but it did make us laugh a lot!

When I was working at a bedding store we had a string of gift cards come in with no value turns out at least some of them should have had money the brides managed to produce receipts from the relatives. I did have a bride come in one time with a gift card that only had like 60 cents left on it, she was pissed.

I got 3 George Foremans and we ended up with about 5-6 bakewares sets. We did get some pretty funny random stuff that I shouldn't mention on a public forum so I don't seem ungrateful

I got one George Forman. I did register for it though, and it was one of the bigger ones, so it'll still be of use when our family grows...
Let me see if I can be heartlessly ungrateful... Hmmm What was the "worst" gift we received...
Well, we got 6 different sets of towels I've been living on my own for 11 yrs. I already have towels... One set is really beautiful though! And I know you can never have too many towels, and it's not like they'll go off if I don't use them for years. It's just that I don't really have room to store them.
Actually thinking it through I think we did really well. There aren't many gifts we got that we actually hate!
ETA: On that list the present I'd be most pissed off to receive is the framed invite to someone's wedding that had passed 5 months before Seriously??? Who would do such a thing?!

You know I've been thinking on the framed invitation thing.
Do you think the bride might have thought she was regifting just a frame and someone had actaully framed her invitation for her?
I once had a lady try to return a 'coffee maker" she had obviously never opened it, inside was a personalized afghan.

Hmm...this made me think of the strangest gift I got at my shower. We had a wishing well, and I don't know what the person was thinking when they gave me ONE oven mitt and ONE tea towel.
Then I opened up another wishing well gift and got another ONE oven mitt and ONE tea towel.
Not too bad, right? Well, it would have been fine if the towels and the mitts were a match, but they weren't! We've been laughing about it since June.

We did get another really odd gift, and we only got it last week though we've been married 2 months...
But we opened it to discover: - 1 Shammie (sp?) cloth (the leather thing you use to clean cars or windows.
- 1 potato peeler.
- 1 set of static cloths for dusting.
- 1 bottle of Ahava aftershave.
- 1 cheque for £100

WTF???
If you are going to give kitchen stuff fine. If you'd like to give after shave then emm... ok..? But together?? And why give that strange combination & then give a cheque for far too much money???
The gift was from a Doctor that my husband's twin sister used to work for. I found it totally surreal.
How do you even write a thank you for that strange combination?! Thank you for your rather eclectic gift?
ETA: I don't mean that to come across quite as graceless or unappreciative as it sounds, it's just such a strange combination that it kind of knocked me for six!

We don't even know her, that is what is extra bizarre about it! I know her by name, but Mo hasn't even met her either! But it was hilarious to open that gift piece by piece
Jennifer: is there any way that gift was a special request by someone not too far away from you???
ETA:We got another gift last night that included a really pretty photo frame & matching candle holders and.... 4 packets of Mentos sugar-free mints I guess we know more than your average quota of crazy people! .
Well at least our gifts have been entertaining

We got a candelabra made of something similar to rod iron with a mid-evil feel along with tacky gold twisted tapered candles to go in it. Also in the box was a very cheap picture of a cat and roses that was glued to an even cheaper plastic chipping frame.
The best part was that the card proudly professed that these items were garage sale specials just for us.
They also got us a gift card but it was like $5 or $10 dollars because I'm sure they spent some money on the lovely party gifts.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m grateful that they spent the time and effort to find these fabulous random items. I just don’t understand. DH thinks they’re great and actually wants to hang the candelabra thing. It will never be hung in our home… never.

We didn't receive too many odd gifts, but some things made us smile. (I don't mean to sound ungrateful either of course but we do get some weird things.)
1. For my shower, a sister of mine had sent up (she's out of state) two porno looking lingerie pieces. My big brother walked by the room we were in as I pulled the red leather one out of the box. He stopped dead in his tracks, shook his head and kept walking.
2. A friend bounced a $40 check & I had to pay $15 out of my own money. (Never mentioned by the friend to this day.)
3. A family of 4 plus 1 date gave us a card with $10 in it. (They are all adults 28+ years old.)
4. I registered for a really nice pot & pan set from Macy's and a woman gave us a 10-piece set from KMart that had $19.99 directly on the box.
5. My Aunt gave me one tea-cup saucer from my Great-Grandmother's China set. I love the plate and the pattern and I'm honored to have it, but what am I going to do with one tea-cup saucer? I can't even have tea!
6. Eight silver frames, all with our name and wedding date on them.

Oh, Heather reminded me of something else.
I had a shower with ladies that are friends but they are closer to my mom and my grandma's age. I got lots of lovely kitchen items and such but then as I was opening a bowl full of towels and pot holders I found a pair of red lacy thong underwear that were more than ten sizes too big for me. They were from a neighbor lady and it was just so random. I don't know her on that level at all and it wasn't that kind of a shower. I think at first I was more bummed that she thought my butt was that big and then I realized that I was holding underwear up.
