Default Does this seem rude?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of this situation (wasn't sure which thread to put it under, either)........

My FMIL called to ask me if I was going to Orlando anytime soon. It is a little over an hour drive from here. Our church has a bookstore there and she wants something.

Anyway, I replied that I wasn't going until the Honeymoon and she said that she would wait and then ask again closer to that time.

Now, does it seem rude to ask someone to go somewhere to get you something while on their Honeymoon???

The bookstore is not really near where we will be (I'd say a good 15 to 20 minutes out of our way both ways). We will be in Orlando only 3 days and have plans to go to Gatorland and Sea World. We have the Sea World passes for all 3 days( so we don't have to rush to see everything in one day) and Gator Land is about a 1/2 day attraction. Of course, I also wanted to spend a lot of time in the hotel as well!!!!

So, what does everyone think? Am I overreacting? Being selfish with our time there?

i think it's kinda rude to ask someone to get something for them on YOUR honeymoon, but maybe that's just me. i mean, it never crossed my mind to ask my friend to get these amazing cookies from this little shop in gentry, AR even tho i knew she was going to be there for a week. i figured they're gonna want all the bedroom time they can get!!! i mean, i can understand the practicality of it from your FMIL's perspective, but even if i were her, i wouldn't have asked.

Being selfish? Nah. Over-reacting? Maybe a bit.

When my friends to go Vegas or AC, I always give them $10 and tell them to put it on black for me at the Roulette table.

I can see where it would be annoying to run this errand, but I'm also a huge fan of books and would welcome the opportunity to check out a new book store. But - seeing as how you're only there for 3 days, it could be tough. I would tell her that if you have the time, you'll go, but with all of the pre-paid passes, you're not sure you could make there in the hours the book store is open.

If she ask closer to the wedding I would et her know if you had time you will. I'm sure with it be the honey moon she will understand if you didn't have the time.

Why can't she just drive over and get it? Tampa is not far from Orlando. I wouldn't want to do it on my honeymoon but I would offer to go with her on some other weekend. FYI, Sea World is not that BIG of a park. You will only need to be there 1 day (maybe 1.5 if you really stretch it). It's really a fun and cute park though. We have the passes to all three of the parks and go quite often. Also, don't stay at the Radisson Barcelo-they have dead bugs in their rooms and it looks like they have not cleaned since the hotel was built!!! I go to Orlando a lot so if you have any ?'s, ask away!

We're staying at one of the Marriots. I forgot which one -- I need to find my itinerary!!! It was a deal with Sea World where you get passes for the length of your stay. I have stayed at Marriot before and liked it.

FMIL works a lot and doesn't want to use the gas, I think. She has asked me before when I'm going (because I used to go more often) and has mentioned riding along (she did offer to pay for half the gas). I have told her before of websites where she can get the same things the bookstore sells, which is what I've been doing. Shipping is about the same as the gas cost, minus the driving aggravation (I-4 between Tampa and Orlando can be a HUGE pain).

I figured we would stretch Sea World out because it will probably be HOT at that time of the year. Plus there are the daily storms which seem to shut attractions down.
I went to Busch Gardens last Friday morning and could only stand to stay an hour (i have a pass) because the weather was miserable.

Anyway, the bookstore is in the Windermere area -- North of Disney up Lake Buena Vista Drive, if that gives you an idea of how far it is from the Sea World area.

just look up the book online, buy it and get the money from her. She'll never know where it came from! (of course, have it shipped to your house.)

I also cannot take BG anymore. It's hot and boring. I have the pass to BG, Sea World, and Adventure Island. I use it to go to AI the most. I think I haven't used it to go to BG since Howl O Scream.

Oh, I love BG!!! But not when I'm all hot and sticky.

We picked Sea World because we were supposed to go there for TJ's birthday(he had said he hadn't been there since he was a kid and wanted to go back), but then he went and joined the Army and was in Basic training!!!

I also looked at Disney, but they were so expensive -- same price for 3 -day pass to all parks(no hotel) as I paid for Sea world plus hotel!!!! TJ's one requirement was we go somewhere where we could watch fireworks (it being 4th of July and all).

I added GATORLAND because I have been wanting to check that out and figured since we are honeymooning in Florida in the biggest tourist city we needed to do something unique and cheesy to Florida!!!!

BG used to be my favorite park but I have had passes for the last 7 years, so I am beyond over it. I know the park better than the back of my hand by now. The summer heat here is almost unbearable- it is the one thing I hate most about Florida. We are going to Sea World on the 4th too. It is DH's b-day! I want to see their new show Believe. We will also be going to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. (We are theme park wh*res, can you tell?)

BTW: I PM'd you.

I know it's your honeymoon....but one can never have enough brownie points with the (F)MIL !! A half hour, 45 minutes is not too big of a deal. I'd say do it!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Universal and Disney!! I was a travel agent for a long time and had to go on business a lot as well as being able to go on great, cheap vacations! I would go every year if I could!!

I've decided to go to Downtown Disney before heading home, so I'll head up to the bookstore first since it is in that area. There's something I want to get, too, so I might as well make the trip
