Bridal Shower theme ideas
Hi all, I am throwing a bridal shower for my cousin. And while searching for theme ideas I am really excited about the "Party of Firsts, a shower where each guest is assigned to bring a gift for a specific "first" the couple will have, for example: their first Christmas together, their first time they burn dinner, their first night apart, etc. the possibilities are endless."
So it is going to be a fairly large shower and I am having trouble coming up with unique ideas. Any suggestions? Thanks a ton!

the themes i've seen used among my group of girlfriends have been an "around the clock" shower where you bring something that corresponds to a certain time of the day (dictated to the guest by the hostess in the invite): ie if i got a 6:00 pm time slot, i might bring something relating to the dinner hour, or a booklet of movie certificates for a date night kind of thing.
i've also seen couples showers for when you host a co-ed shower and all the gifts have to be something both of the couple can use... no cooking stuff, for instance unless he cooks, etc.
anyway, i've never heard of the "firsts" theme, but that actually sounds like a lot of fun. it requires guests to be quite creative (i can only imagine the responses to the couple's first night apart or couple's first argument!) have fun planning!

I thought of doing a themed shower like this too, until I understood that the Bride & Groom for whom I'm serving as MOH, would really like the items off their registry. If you do a shower theme like this, then the bride may not get very many items that they want or need.

Thanks guys, actually the Bride and Groom have lived together for quite sometime and have a lot of stuff between the two of them. They are finishing their basement (and therefore asking for gift cards to home depot), but I'm not sure how to tie that into a shower theme. Breezy, ljeagle thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming girls!

That does make it harder... is the shower co-ed. If so perhaps a "honey do" themed party would be easier
"honey can you hang that picture for me"
"honey what are we having for dinner"
"honey can you hand me the hammer"
"honey, can you teach me to lay tile"

There is no proper way to ask for gift cards or cash. This should be spread by word of mouth only, and I think a "home improvement" shower would be weird if it's just her. If they're not registered for anything besides that, then go for the theme.

You can register at HomeDepot.com. It's not available in store, though, just online.
