Ringbearer
Does anyone have an idea of what the RB is supposed to do once they are down the aisle? Do they sit down with parents, stand with the groomsmen, stand somewhere else, etc., until they hand over the rings? The only wedding I've been to with a ringbearer was my sister's and he carried down fake rings since he was only 2 1/2. They didn't trust him with the real ones (best man held them). Then he just went and sat with his parents.
For those of you who don't know, my dog is my ringbearer. I know that it's a little cheesy but I can't even begin to explain how much this dog means to me! Anyway, I wanted her to carry the real rings in a little pouch tied to her collar and meet my FH at the end of the aisle. Does this sound okay to everyone? Imagine the sweetest dog in the world walking down the aisle with the rings! Oh, she's so cute. I even thought about having her "shake" his hand when she got to the end.
Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

That would be the cooloest thing ever!!! Do it!!!!
If I thought there was any chance my cat could have stood all those people and carried my rings (he'd have to be on a leash) I would have done that in a heartbeat.

I posted elsewhere... my dogs are sweet but not well behaved with others outside our family
If they were they would be in our wedding.
I think it's an awesome idea. I would then just have him sit next to either you or DF during the ceremony.
Heres a pic with a cute collar... you could have it embroidered with Ring Dog
or "Ring Bearer"

awwww what a cute idea!!! If my dog liked kids, he'd be in my wedding for sure! Unfortunately, he doesn't, so he's gonna be in a doggie hotel til the wedding's over

jill, first of all, i love your dog!!!!! and if i'd had an outdoor wedding, and my dog wouldn't have licked all the guests to death, she'd have been a part of our day!!! but i have no idea what to "do" w/ her after she does her part! do you have a child who you'd like to use who could walk her down (also ensring dog-control) w/ a leash and then lead away after teh rings are down? just a thought, otherwise i dunno!

I would have her sit at the far side of the best man. That is where ring bearers always stand over here.

A "regular" ring bearer does stand at the outside of the groom's side after bringing the rings down the aisle. However, if you are not sure whether your dog would stay there through the whole ceremony, you can have him leave the front and go "sit with" a friend or family member for the rest of the ceremony, as if he was a younger child (like at the wedding you attended).

I thought of that too (we did have a human RB, and I would've had him bring the cat down the aisle). However, in addition to behavior issues, I should mention this is an orange cat and the hairs wouldn't work too well on the black tuxes (orange was NOT one of my wedding colors).

I hope your dog doesn't need to poop in the middle of the ceremony!
I would have someone "take care of" your dog during the ceremony. That way if she needs to go potty or starts barking there's someone to take her outside and walk her. If she's good, she can just sit and watch from up front.

Yeah, Margie I thought of that. I think I'll just give someone the responsibility to make sure she "does her business" before the ceremony. My dog's really well behaved so I'm not worried about any behavior problems. She'll probably just lie down by someone she knows (MOG who LOVES her or me or FH)for the ceremony.
I love the collar idea! I've been trying to think of a cute idea for that. Hopefully I can find a light blue collar to match the BP or maybe just use some ribbon.
Thanks for all the ideas everyone!
