I'm not sure
So what do you all think? I want to have sunflowers for my bouquet but just a few stems with no other flowers in it. What should I do for bouts? I just don't think the guys would look right with a big sunflower on their lapels. Any suggestions? Oh, and I am pretty set on my main color being light blue (to match FH's beautiful eyes! ) So maybe some light blue flowers to match the girls' dresses?
BTW, I'm in way preliminary stages so my choices now may change later on as most of you have experienced . Actually, I've been leaning towards sunflowers for quite a while now - I am from Kansas after all so maybe it will stay around...

Ann, those both look great. Maybe white bouts would be better than blue, huh? I'm still not sure though. And LJ, I'm just not a big fan of carnations. But thanks for the suggestion . Keep 'em coming ladies! I would love to start getting some details figured out!

I was going to suggest daisy's too. Or smaller sunflowers... they come in variouse sizes. The wild ones that grown on the side of our free-ways are smaller and grow in almost a bush fashion.

i also love the idea of daisies (they match, as suzy said, the "sunniness" of each other), but for a more classic, and possibly less feminine flower, i love ann's idea of stepanotis.... but even a yellow rose bud would be fine, or can you get just a few blossoms of a blue hydrangea (in the same fashion you would cluster a few blooms of stephanotis), b/cs i believe they are inexpensive... and if you knew someone who cuold actually make teh bouts, you could order several blue hydrangeas, and pull the petals to go into flowrer girl baskets, if you're having one... here's a link to a sunflower bouquet, and it has a pic of some yellow flower for the bouts (i think it is a carnation after looking closer):

asters are daisyish, and they're probably not expensive, and they come in several colors.... i like the idea of the lt. blue flower, and you could use a yellow ribbon to incorporate everything.

There is a small chrysanimum that looks like a mini sunflower. It is yellow with a brown center. It makes a perfect boutonnierre to go with a sunflower bouquet.

Wow, thanks everyone for all of the great ideas. I like the idea of the smaller sunflower- looking flowers for bouts (black-eyed susans or asters). I'll have to run it all by FH of course but I can already tell you the answer: "whatever you want babe"
I'm getting really excited about wedding stuff now and it's over a year away!
