I think creme or off-white would be better with burgundy (IMO, white with any shade of red screams candy canes and Valentine's Day).

I'll be wearing a pure white wedding dress (see my other thread, Wedding Locations for the pic)... I'm trying to decide the overall theme. This burgundy I saw was the bodice of a FG dress, was a dark burgundy. I donno...

Ashely,
A person can pick any colors they want for their wedding. The colors I picked were based upon my family's plaids. So I had red, yellow, blue, green.... well you get the drift. It worked. What matters is how much and how well you cordinate. Before deciding on a scottish theme I always wanted Rose and a grayish green.... both would have worked...... I think it could work, but would want more info but keep in mind what a said above........ And your dress can still be the pure white. Maybe outside of your dress, you could do a cream??? or??????? Maybe burgundy as acent..... show us pics of what you are thinking

When I snap a good picture of the burgundy, I will! Say, dark wine color... My dress the only one as being WHITE... burgundy/cream/silver as accents?

I think burgundy could work really well, but like Kim said: don't feel like you are restricted to certain colours due to the season.
Of course we've had a few brides on here that were all about embracing the season! Tree ornaments as favours & pretty winter bouquets, and those worked out beautifully!
I found what I think of as burgundy, was it anything like this? (this is David's Bridal's "Apple")

I wouldn't have your attendants wearing any ivory or cream, but as part of the decor it would look very nice. Burgundy is perfect for december (i had a cousin who chose that for her December wedding, in velvet). Silver and gold work too and with it, but pick one or the other, i think(other opinions on this?).
Another good color is a deep green like pine green or forest green or dark emerald (I wouldn't do bright).
Lots of choices for a holiday theme, if that is what you are going for. Like Ann said, you can do ornaments as favors and do a winter bouquet (holly, berries, pointsettias!!!). You could ven have little christmas trees as centerpieces!!! That may be going overboard.

Velvet for a December wedding would be lovely! I do think red and green would be over the top though!

Almost exactly, but a couple shades darker...!
Maybe silver as a trim? It will still be an outdoors wedding, and I'll be posting the locale I'm thinking of (not the casa de la paz) soon with the local history and tradition for that area...

Alot of brocades are interwoven with black. I know Lj used red/black and ?white? I think.
There are a few people getting married over the Christams holiday. I hear you can really make a killing on saving for decorations as most spots have them and will provide holiday decoations if desired
So I'm kinda thinking, burgundy, silver and black with evergreen accents. But I need to check out your other posting

I'm the MOH in a late September (Fall) wedding and our dresses are burgundy, our shoes will be clear or silver, and that's pretty much all she has chosen for color. Her dress is white (and gorgeous I may add).
I say do whatever you would like to do - go for it. I'm not a good judge though - I prefer very simple but elegant. My own wedding colors were black, white and silver, with touches of red that matched our family tartan that the boys wore.

My girls dresses was a red and black two tone and it looked like burgundy.

Silver looks really nice with the burgundy. This week when I have some more time I'll look up some more pictures.

we went pretty unconventional as far as winter wedding colors, but i went w/ what i wanted... chocolate brown (typically a gorgeous fall color, i was happy it was still around for our jan wedding!!), and the guys wore champagne vests/black suits. so really, go w/ what you love. i think burgandy is a wonderful choice for a rich winter wedding.... and while i personally like silver, for some reason i'm thinking gold would be richer w/ the whole florida thing (sandy beaches, etc!). dunno... what flowers/favors, etc are you considering? (sorry if this info is posted somewhere else!) if you want a holiday theme, the rich green someone mentioned would be lovely, or for less holiday, you could let your flowers/accents determine what colors you want to bring out the burgundy.

Those colors sound fantastic, Heather, LJ, and Clarion...! I want roses. I want my bridal boquet to be white roses, the style that looks like it's cascading? I'm not sure if that's the right words for it...? The BM and the MoH will be different to save money but... I'm sooo open to suggestions! OH, and one more thing - because of the Nights of Lights, I was thinking of a nighttime wedding, about 7pm (gets dark fast here winter)...

Now I'm thinking for the wedding party, to have a deep emerald color... since burgundy's been done a few times. hmm. Ok, deep emerald as the primary color - I don't want to do black as the accent since it's very common. Silver?

My sister's wedding was the day after Christmas and had navy blue velvet and satin BM dresses. It was beautiful! If you have a red shade as your wedding color, just watch the decorations because I think the burgundy or wine colors would clash pretty drastically with any poinsettias or other holiday decorations with red in them (that you have chosen or are already out for the season). I love the color scheme though, just thought I'd throw that in.

emerald sounds gorgeous, and i would definitely do silver as opposed to gold. and yay that you don't have to spend $ on shimmery white lights!!! (i live in memphis, and downtown still had all its xmas lights up in jan, so tho we weren't planning on it, they're in most of our outdoor shots, and they add so much to the photos!!)
flower options..... i love the idea of a cascading white bouquet for you (just not too big b/cs you're so petite--you don't want it to overwhelm you).
if your girls were going to be wearing emerald, you could go w/ the burgundy flower, such as these mini callas http://www.flowers.pacificcallas.com...ilyflowers.htm
and do a white accent flower .... you could still do a mainly white bouquet for them as well, b/cs it would stand out against emerald green beautifully.
oooh, i just thought... for your bouquet, i love "architechtural" designs or adding interesting elements... you could add silvery-green to your bouquet (i'm not normally into a lot of greenery in the bridal bouquet, i like the flowers speaking for themselves, tho that can get more expensive in a large arrangement) but something like lamb's ear. i looked for a good pic, but they were all too small... ok, i'm going totally overboard, slow down misty, we still have several months!! lol

The only thing I would ay at this point is that white bouquets tend to disaeppear into the dress in photographs unless you edge the whole bouquest with greenery...
Off to hunt down a photo...
ETA:
well... I couldn't get the photo I was thinking of, but this might show what I mean:
http://weddings.theknot.com/gallery/...spx?gallery=20
The second page...
the second picture on the second row... If you can imagine how little of it you would be able to see in a full length photo.
Or the third page:
second photo on the top row...
