Help with blue!?!
I'm getting married this October and my FH is insistant that blue be the main color which is fine with me, my problem is which blue! My gown is white with pale pink in the beading and I love yellow roses which I want desperately in my bouquet. I've looked at the Alfred Angelo color chart for my bridesmaids dresses and although we're both partial to the cobalt blue, I'm not sure that it will look good with the pale pink and yellow that I'm determined to have. It also has to look okay in a small amount on a white cake.
I'd really appreciate any input on this!
Thanks!

Welcome Kimmey!
Hmmm, can you show us the dress and the pink or a swatch of the pink beading or something?
First thought I have is a blue with some gray tones in it........ but need to see the pink. And the yellow? Just a standard yellow rose, some can be lovely and muted a bit and others can be tropicana almost and really bright!!!

I was thinking the Riviera Sky blue (an alfred angelo color) because it has tones of lavendar/purple in it, which would go well with the pink in your dress and yellow roses. I'll post a picture of a BM dress in that color.
ETA: And welcome to Pash!! Tell us more about your wedding.

Thanks for all the input!
Wow, thanks guys! I didn't expect such fast responses! I am definitely going to talk to him about the riviera sky blue. The pink in the dress is almost transparent it's so light. If you go to the David's Bridal site it's style v8820. When I spoke with the florist, she said we could do a rose that would be mostly white with touches of pink on the petals to just bring out a little of the color. The cake that I was hoping to have was one that would be white with yellow roses on the top instead of a cake topper and a ribbon (of course it would be made of frosting) in our blue color that would sort of cascade down the side of the cake with a single yellow rose on the bottom layer as well. I just wish he wasn't quite as stubborn about the blue!
Thanks again for all of your help! It's so frustrating because no one I know wants to disagree with me. They all say "it's your day, have what you want" and what I really need is some opinions!

The cake you described sounds beautiful. I almost chose blue and yellow for colors.

I like the Riveria but I also like their cornflower blue, it's similiar but lighter. I don't think I'd go with the cobalt it's just too bright for me.

I think cobalt is tooo bright. I would think more a pastel shade of blue.
There are a few of us using blue's in our wedding (or have).

What about this shade of blue?

(I promise it's NOT periwinkle... it just looks that way since my Mom's dress WAS periwinkle)
I'll look for a better picture.... brb

I went for a bright, sapphire blue. I don't really have a good pic here, on my work computer, but this will sort of give you the idea. They aren't as purple as they look in this pic. The low lighting at the reception affected the color in the pic.
And, this was my cake:

That's pretty!!! And I love the dresses. I have Royal blue plastic table cloths and ribbon for flowers and bouts, but my programs are light blue. Don't know the shade for the cake (it's a surprise!!!).
Kimmey, are you still going to have the yellow flowers on the cake??? I think that would be so pretty. Especially with blue -- no matter what shade.

Yeah, the shade on my cake was a bit lighter than the rest of the blues I used. But, it was pretty close. It's hard to get such a bright color in fondant, which is what they used to make the "ribbons" on the cake.

Thanks again for the responses!
I've finally gotten him to agree to a lighter blue for the bridesmaids dresses and the cake but he says he won't wear it! I told him that was fine so I think he's going with navy in his tux which I imagine will show up black in pics anyway! I'm thinking the alfred angelo blue jay now since it's lighter and the color swatch in the store looks much nicer than the color on the computer! We're going Saturday for my maid of honor to pick out her dress and I'm so excited. We've also decided that the flowers are going to be yellow and white roses and on the cake it is going to be yellow roses with a white sash cascading down the cake and there will be a sort of an outline stripe on each side of the sash in the same blue as the dresses.
Thanks again for all your help!

that sounds great! I'm doing light blue too with splashes of yellow (I think ) Still not fully decided on that one yet. But the light blue is a definite because it matches my DF's eyes. He looks so handsome in light blue because of it and I think I've convinced him to wear a light blue tie at least.
But I think navy will look really nice. You could do your reception in all different shades of blue as accents. Ooh, I might use that idea .

I just read this post (it's my first time using this site) and I had to say something. lol.
I saw a bridesmaid dress in cobalt blue with a tea rose pink sash from Alfred Angelo. It's style 6304S. It can also come in full length. There's a whole bunch of dresses from different companies that will come in one colour with another as an accent. If you decide that you still want to incorporate the pink into the colours, that might be the way to do it.
If you want to see what it looks like, click on the cobalt link on their website. It shows it with the pink sash. It might help you visualize the colour scheme a bit easier.
I hope that wasn't too much rambling. hehe

I don't know exactly what style your looking for, but I found a picture of your dress and here are some picture of blue bridesmaids dresses and boquets with yellow in them, unfortunaly I couldn't find any that were just yellow and blue, but ljeagle covered that already.
Dress . . .
Brides Maids . . .
Flowers . . .
Hope I could help you out some. BEST OF LUCK!!!

This is what I used for our wedding. The flowers are blue, purple, pink and some yellow, the dresses are from dillards
I like the way the colors looked together.

I think a soft blue would look great with yellow and pink, davids bridal has a great selection.
