I just picked our favorite colors. Do you have any idea about colors that you like?

Welcome to Pash!

My bouquet was red roses with purple in it.. I'll see if I can find a pic.. I think red or/and purple would be a good place to start!

Well.. I can't find a pic of my bouquet, but here's one of my MOH (SIL) and my hubby where she has her bouquet..

Welcome to Pash! It always struck me as a bit odd that we didn't have any same sex marriages on here... It's nice to have you here! I'm sure we'll all help as much as we can, just shout out whenever you have a question...

So are you thinking of having a traditional dress?

Actually, deep red and deep purple are "in" colors right now. If you choose the right shades of both colors (underlying blue tones), then they can look lovely together.

Red and purple sound pretty cool together!

We didn't really pick specific colors - we had a theme (a beach theme) and used whatever colors are associated with it. I think I wound up using a lot of creme and peach, but the BM dresses were pink, the guys had pewter vests/ties and my bouquet had muted pastels (muted as to not be confused with an Easter parade), and MOH and BM's had mostly white flowers with colored accents.

Here are some purple and red ideas. I kind of imagine a Far East Indian theme with kind of a maroonish purple and rusty red...here are a couple of pics that show the colors I mean.

But you could certainly do the deep, blue based ones that syringa was talking about...here are a few more pics for inspiration.

With these colors, I don't think you'd have to have purple or red bridesmaid dresses, you could have a neutral color like a tan with a purple or red sash.

My wireless connection is lousy right now, when it picks back up, I will post more ideas for you.

You can definitely put red and purple together, as long as you pick the right shade of each color. I would go with deep red and deep purple. I like the colors in the bouquet that CW posted in this thread.

I *love* the bouquet that CW posted too!

I think if you were going to use those colours you'd really need to keep most of the outfits/table decorations simple colours just so it wasn't too overwhelming. That way your attention would really be drawn to where the strong colour was without it being tooo much...

I agree with this. If you have all of the decorations in those two shades, it would probably be distracting and/or uncomfortable to the eyes. I would probably use a neutral color for the tablecloths, napkins, dresses, etc., and use the deep red and deep purple as "accent" colors.

There's no need to respond to each person individually. We pretty much all read all of the posts, so we know who's questions your answering even if you answer multiple in the same reply.

BTW, I didn't say "Hi!' yet.

Welcome! I also like the thought of doing red and purple together!

What I did is just went and looked at BM dresses with my mom (don't know if you are going to have witnesses or people stand up with you) and looked at reds and neutrals. So I basically chose my "colors" based on what I liked in my BM dresses. I don't know if that is helpful to you at all...

Yea I believe that is what I am going to do,, we are going to look this weekend, and I need to make sure I find one that fits everyone OK,, sooo many brides choose HORRIBLE bm dresses that look good on only 1 person and the 350pd bm look awful,, so I am finding one that looks good on all of them, and yea !!! I do have a standing party, its all girls,, her sisters and mine plus are really really good friends,, no guys though!!!! We are doing all the "normal" things a guy/girl wedding would do!!! Thanks though that did help,, I saw the most beautiful teal bm dress today but I was thinking what in the world would I do with teal!!! any idea people????

You could go with teal and some bluesand greens but I would not mix teal with purple and red.
I'll be back with more ideas.

Welcome to Pash and CONGRATS!!!

Teal with shades of blue and/or greens is hot right now too. As is tans with teal accents.

I started buying tons of bridal mags when we got engaged. That gave me a starting point to what I liked and what I could use (or alter)

As far as looking good on each BM, often the best way for that is to just pick the color and then let them pick a dress from the manufacurer in that shade.

I have a good friend getting married in July and her colors are teal and brown. Think the Tiffany's color, if you know it. And her invitations (she did them herself) look fantastic in that color!! You wouldn't think so, but those colors look great together.
