*giggles* I'm marrying Dec. 7th...... feels like forever! Any advice on how to de-stress NOW? I'm tiny - 5'2" and barely 106 lbs. (and before anyone says aw how lucky - consider this: I have a HIGH metabolism. If I miss one meal, I lose about 5 lbs. Literally. At my size? Not good). ANYWAY....! 2 days now of Nyquil and Ambien, and about 6, 7 hours sleep total!
Not just the whole idea of planning my wedding *hoping my first and last* but also my cell group at work's just suddenly been thrust under the microscope. The Big Bosses are watching us very closely. STRESSING
Ideas to de-stress before I go into shock? lol. I'm normally very laidback, and stress isn't exactly my middle name...!
Today we pick up the engagement ring, and tonight we see if any of our co-workers notice

Read a good book.
Take a bubble bath.
Get a massage (pay someone or from FH).
Have a glass of wine.
Play outside! (if the weather is nice)
Buy yourself something at the mall.
Go to the humane society and play with the pets.
Do something that you really enjoy but don't do often...pamper yourself!

Good suggestions Maroki!
Dragon, also be sure to spend some good quality time with FH while planning the wedding. What I mean is choose certain days to spend together and do only non-wedding related stuff. Don't talk about it at all that day. We did this and it seemed to help a lot. It helps you to remember why you're getting married when you get caught up in all the planning. It can kinda take hold of your whole being if you let it.

good suggestions all! I'll be sure to do those! I also decided to look thru my new medications and see if there were any side effects that might be causing this constant stressed feeling and I found out it's my new birth control medication - one side effect is nervousness. Gonna make an appt ASAP and have that changed - 2 doses of Nyquil and 2 hrs later I'm up again??? (my FH and I both work the graveyard shifts)... So hopefully that wil help too! I was prescribed that medication the same day he proposed. Hmmm

WEDDING PREPERATIONS...
Stopped the BC stuff, destressed almost immediately. Whoo.
Went to the Casa de la Paz today to make reservations, I asked about a deposit but they scoffed and said, "It's so far off, we're not gonna ask for a deposit!" Then I asked how close to the date would they normally take a deposit. "Six months..."
WOO! Now I have an exact figure on how much it will cost for not only the wedding but also renting the entire house for 2 days - just under $7k. We can save that much up PLUS get other stuff done...! I'm looking at about $10k budget, hoping to include honeymoon trip in that budget...!

*looks around my wedding thread, notices cobwebs, starts to clean... decides to decorate with various flowers with strong perfumes and carnivorus plants for added effect*

Yes, we're still under the microscope, and we're being written up for every little mistake in the "Red Book" which isn't supposed to be a real write up but more of a recordkeeping of your mistakes.
On the wedding front: We've decided on the time of the day, and we looked at a possible place for the reception, which is a very very nice location. We also decided on the courtyard at the lightner museum for the wedding site. Got a lot done today!

Went down to Tampa last weekend to visit my best friend, whose wedding is in Sept. of 2007, so we decided to do some planning together. I got my wedding shoes (will post pics) that are lovely and I think would go wonderfully with anything - it's kind of a flip flop style with inch tall heels. Not bad!

Dear Diary:
I went out and did the Reception Site chat with the lady, Beth, who oversees that at the A1A Ale Works Restaurant... I'm reserved for the day and time I want and because it's so far into the future, I can change the time if I want! It's tentatively set for 5p to 7p for $350 total ($175 for dance floor and $175 for the room rental). If my FH wants the full 4 hours, we'll do that for $350, and drop the dance floor and just dance in that room for free. Or if we decide to just do the 2 hours, we can STILL drop the dance floor and pay $175! i'll figure it out for sure with my FH
My only question is: Is it appropriate to set the reception time an hour after the wedding? Or should it be "immediately after" even though all the newlywed pictures are going to be taken after?.....

If the reception site and ceremony site are close to one another, you should plan the cocktail hour to be taking place while your pictures are being taken. It's awkward as a guest to have a ton of time and nowhere to go...

I agree --- have something for guests to do between wedding and reception, like a cocktail hour.
You came to Tampa and did not tell me???? Oh well
Just kidding!!
Where did you get your shoes?

Well, it'll be a "dry" reception... we both have relatives that get weird when they're drunk (a cousin of his took a shotgun and shot up a roadkill while drunk) so... I donno about the cocktail hour.
Shoes were from the David's Bridal in Tampa. I'm sorry I didn't tell you Robin Lynn! Next time I will!

I was sick anyway
You don't have to have cocktails. You can serve soda or whatever, but have some appetizers. You can call it the Hors'derves(spelling?) hour. Just so the guests won't go hungry and have something to do.
Another thing you can do at this time is have a slideshow playing of you and your FH growing up and then pictures of the 2 of you together. or if you are going to have a photo mat, this would be a good time to pass it around or have people go to a table to sign it (to avoid food stains!!)

Ooo those are good ideas! I saw something neat that I'm thinking of doing. Instead of a guest book, they engrave their names into a serving tray. It's at www.idoengravables.com the small ones are what I'm thinking of - IMO for something like this the price's pretty good!
***Obviously I'm not getting a damn penny from endorsing this site. More likely, THEY will from me!***

It seems like a really cool idea
I just had one tiny concern; If the guests can scribe their name into it, do you think it'll stand up to general wear & tear? Or would you only use it as decoration?
I love the photo mat they have too, but it works out find of expensive once you include the frame etc...

Yeah.... a little pricey for the photo mat. I think it'll stand up to general wear and tear since the engraving scribe pen is made specially for this tray. Nothing else will work well enough. I'd love to have the small round victorian tray though!

I love the quilt. I think I'll do the quilt, or the rocks in a jar idea...but after a while, I'd get sick of seeing the rocks in the jar! At least the quilt I can fold and put away...hmm... Or maybe the one you PM'ed me... hehehehe
