Help with ideas for Flowers?
Hey guys. My daughter is getting married in August and we're trying to decide on flowers. I told her I could make the bouquets and tabletop flowers at the reception..but I need ideas. What would be the best sourse for pictures so I can decide with her what is pretty. Her girls are wearing an emerald green gown, so flowers will be easy to match. Shes having a country style reception..low key..and informal. But we want it to Still be very pretty. We talked about flower mixes..all diff. colors since they will match the green dresses. Anyone have sites or books which would help me?

Real flowers. We talked about it with her yesterday and I really prefer real over silk.

Are you going to realistically have time to arrange real flowers for your daughter's wedding? How many bridesmaids does she have? This could end up taking you longer than you're anticipating.

Well she wants just informal arrangements for the tables. And she only has 3 bridesmaids...so I dont think it will be That much work...thoughts?
They are on a very limited budget since its being put together very quickly. And cuase they have No money LOL. So the parents are basically paying for everything.

I did my own...and it was okay, but I also am extremely anal and organized...but, I can tell you what I did....First thing, I did EASY!!! We had clutch boquets...which were extremely simple, I'll see if I can dig up the instructions I used, you can see one picture in my gallery of me and my MOH and our boquets....Also for centerpieces, I used arranged flowers in a vase, so that was easy!!!...we used alot of candles too, so the flowers weren't the only thing....Now for ordering the flowers, this was really scary because I ordered them from a wholesaler direct....I had tulips for an april wedding, so definetely an in season flower...but when I was looking I started calling floral wholesalers I had found on the internet, until I felt comfortable with one (I did this months in advance)....and even if their web-site says florists only, call them anyways because when some found out that I was ordering for a wedding, they changed thier tune!! AND, do your research!!! I looked up everything I could about the care for fresh flowers and arranging them.
Can I just tell you that this was seriously the best thing I ever did....but really scary, I was having nightmares until the tulips got to my house...it was nice knowing that they picked them directly out of the field on Wednesday and they were at my house on Thursday...I got 1000 stems and the cost of the flowers and the materials for arranging was $500....I saved a ton...and the most compliments I got were about the flowers...because I could get so many we just had them everywhere...it was awesome!!

Yes would you mind sharing some pics? Thats exactly what she wants. Informal..but classy. So we talked about vases with various casual flowers. Her bridesmaids color is emerald green...so thats easy to match. She lovesss roses so I thought maybe she could have mostly roses. And yes she likes the clutch idea. Its a small wedding..so I won't need tons, but I obviously want it to look really pretty...

Thanks for your replys. Well I havent priced up live flowers yet but I hope we can swing them. She only has 3 bridesmaids and wants a country look. So I think if she has about 4 roses and then brightly colored flowers mixed it shouldnt be so bad. And groomsmen are easy to make...and not costly.
Guess I need to get going on prices. Anyone here have a suggestion about the cheapest way to buy fresh flowers??

Wholesale florists, you'll have to do some searching but you should be able to buy in bulk with a lot less cost of normal florists.

I think anyone can, but you may have to purchase a lot more than you actually need. With bulk or wholesale purchases, there is normally a minimum that you have to order.
Check out various floral web sites. Sometimes the cheaper option is ordering directly from growers. You're guaranteed lower prices, but you would need to order fairly close to your wedding date, and then have a location in which to store them.

I have but one resource to offer which I have found very useful.
http://www.knotforlife.com/planning/flowers/index.shtml
They have discussions on different bouquet ideas, photos of bouquets, ideas for weddings at different times of the year, estimated costs, a list of all floral decorations you will need (this one comes in handy) etc.
We are planning for my niece's wedding and we chose a cascading style for the bride (because she is very tall and we are having a Vintage theme) and the bridesmaids will be carrying Nosegays which we will be making ourselves.

For ideas on bouquets I went to a florist and asked them what I should do they usually have books with pictures in them and they would also tell you what flowers are in season. I didn't actually intead to go with their flowers (way too expensive) but I did make an appointment

Great Suggestions
Hi, I am a newbie planning a wedding for a dear friend and am so happy to have discovered this site.
Flowers are an critical item for my planning and this helps a lot. The wedding is back East during November so it will be cold and the colors will be fall in nature. I'm hoping to find the perfect fall flower for the event. All of these ideas and resources will certainly help.
