Default What's the best way

to glue rhinestones on a candle? I've got super glue, but haven't tried it yet. I tried to kind of heat up the wax then stick it in, but that didn't work so well. (You all would laugh so hard at me right now- I'm using thread to make a "map" of where to put the stones on the candle.)
Anyway, just wanted to pick your brains on what kind of adhesive I should use.

hmmmm....have you thought about using double sided tape? I don't know how big the rhinestones are that you are using, but you could cut little snips of tape and stick them on. That way it wouldn't be as messy as glue. That is what I used when I put ribbon around my candles.

Otherwise, I think super glue would work fine. There is also a spray on adhesive that I bought from Michaels but I have yet to try it out, so I don't know how well it works. It is supposed to be made for all surfaces, so technically it could be used on candles.

I just tried the spray stuff on a candle and it worked. I didn't want you going out and buying it and it not work. I have scrappers spray by creative imagination u can get it at a scrapbook store or a Michaels. Just spray it on and place the stones on it. The stuff I have u can't move the stones until it dries.

I was going to suggest the spray on too, and I'm suprised heating up the candles didn't work better. Maybe you're not pushing them into the wax hard enough?

How on earth are you making a map with string? lol

What if you get those rhinestones that are made to decorate clothing? They have little prongs in the back that would stick into the wax of the candle.

Tacky Glue - you can get it at Michaels. It's like cement when it dries but is like elmers when wet. Can withstand high heat.

Lol, I made a diamond pattern with the thread so I would know where to put the stones. However, in the midst of gluing them on (and getting super glue all over my fingers) FH came in and said he didn't like it. Soooo, I'm going to get some thin blue ribbon and make a diamond pattern like I have now with the thread (FH said he liked it) and then I'll put the stones on the ribbon. I don't think he really wants the stones on it, but I told him it was going to be there so he might as well get over it.

By the by, super glue does work, and it just peels off wherever you don't want it to be.

Definitely share a pic. It sounds like a cheap & easy way to decorate solid colored candles for holidays or parties.
