Default BM dress question

I received my BM dresses in the mail and I really dislike the color. I looked at the color in the store first and looked at a fabric swatch....and this color is definitely more purple than I remember. With a little less than 14 weeks until the wedding, I'm considering rush ordering new dresses or buying dresses at a store in the 'after-prom' sales. I found a dress yesterday that I really like, but I don't know if I like it for the wedding for the BMs to wear. It is a multicolored dress (where the colors fade into one another. See below for an idea) I couldn't find a picture of the actual dress online; it is all the colors of the ocean (our wedding colors) and ranges from seafoam green at the top of the dress to cerulean blue at the bottom. It has a chiffon overlay, spaghetti straps, and is floor length. I just don't know if it is 'dressy' enough for the wedding. Comments??

Here is a picture of a 'multicolored' dress that I am describing...I couldn't find one that looked much like it, so this is strictly to show how the colors fade. These aren't the same colors.

ETA: I'm just wondering if they look a little too trendy. If I'm going to look at my wedding pictures in 20 years and say "What was I thinking??"

Hmmm...I think the very dramatic shift in color might be something you look back on as trendy, but if you really love it I think that is ok.

However, it doesn't sound like you love it, so I'd go for seeing if your maids can't find something you do love on the rack somewhere. All the after prom sales are going on now, too.

I like the color too but I agree with what CW said and with what you said about possibly looking back and wondering what you were thinking due to its trendiness.

Nothing could ever be as bad as the dresses my mother made her BM's wear. No joke.

If you really like the dress, then go for it, regardless of trendiness or not. However, if you're even a little unsure, then I would keep looking. Remember, you'll have the pictures forever.

Yeah, that's a good point. Remember how incredibly cool we all were in the 80s--the look to end all looks?!?! Definitely safer to stick with something classic.
