I am assuming the price is fixed on i pods everywhere. Has anyone seen them under 300 dollars or heard of a reputable place that maybe throws in some extras for free if you get it from them??

Just thought I would throw this out there just in case.

BTW I want the bigger i pod, not the nano; and I am afraid of buying one off e bay. I would buy anything else there, except the machine that would make music for my wedding - I can't take any chances.

Yeah Apple fixes the prices for Ipods. You will never see them on sale. Is there any reason why you don't want the nano? It is a size issue?

If you go to Apple.com and poke around, you can purchase refurbished ones at a bit of a discount sometimes.

Here is a link to what I found -- they're offering a refurbished 20 gig with color display for $199, which is a pretty good deal, I think.

Also, there are education discounts if you are a teacher or student (or can get someone you know who is to pick it up for you).

Also, to ease your mind, you can read up on Apple's standards for refurbished products, which is pretty high.

You could also borrow someone's laptop and do the music that way... With various music programs you can preset hours and hours of music. We also recently bought a wireless speaker ($80) so you can put it where ever you need it.

Mike (my hubby) takes care of all the music when we have get togethers, and with the wireless speaker, we can bring it outside and still hear the music perfectly. (Instead of opening all the windows in the house like we used to do, lol. Neighbors loved us.)

I reason I want the larger one is size. The nano holds about 500 songs unless you get the larger version which carries 1000 songs. That one is 250 dollars. I figured for 50 dollars more I could get one that holds 7500 songs. Right now I have about 1000 songs on my laptop but need a lot more because I don't have a lot of music good for dancing. I don't want to bring my laptop because I am sure some drunk will try and change the song and then spill something in it or knock it over. Plus maybe they will not know how to work the i pod and they will leave it alone. It would be nice to have for after the wedding as well.

The refurbished looks good, I will look into that.

It dawned on me later that I am a teacher. I called and I qualified for the education discount 30 dollars off. So I ordered the I pod video 30 gig. I got it ingraved with our names and date of the wedding on the back. It should come on Monday - I am so excited.
