Default It's done!

My veil, that is. Ok, I should rephase that...it's kind of done. The tulle is on the comb now, so I don't have to hold it up on my head to get an idea of what it'll look like. Hehe. I just need to decide if I'm going to add any stones or anything on it. I think I'll have to trim some too, it's 3 yards right now. But yay for progress!!!

ETA- Yes, definitely have to do some trimming. Who wants to come cut me? Lol. So far, I've spent $1.64 for the tulle and .25 cents for the comb. Not bad, eh?

Congrats!! Are you making the veil yourself? What kind of stones are you considering adding?

I've been thinking about making my own veil...how much is it costing you? How much work have you had to do? Sorry I'm so curious.

I am making it myself. I decided I wanted a floor length veil, and those cost an arm and a leg at the stores. Shoot, so do the other ones. It's not hard at all, especially if you have sewing experience. If you go to Michaels.com, they have an interactive instructional on how to make one. I'm considering adding rhinestones (big shock) or maybe some seed pearls.

I just added to my original post on cost so far.

You pretty much decide on the length you want, and cut accordingly. If you want a blusher, you cut a shorter layer. You use a running stitch to hold them together, then just sew it onto your comb or tiara. (I'm wearing a tiara, but want to remove my veil after the ceremony so I'm putting it on a comb.) I'll give any help you need!

Yeah. Can't wait to see some pics. I never thought about making my own veil. Probably could've saved some moneys!!

Maroki, I just wanted to mention that they sell really inexpensive ready made veils at craft stores, too. I bought mine there and just picked up some Swarovski crystals and pearls to sew on...I think the grand total was $22.

Sewing the stuff on will take about 30 minutes for me. I am terrible at sewing, though.

I don't think I have ever seen a bride with a floor length veil at all the many many weddings I have been to. I can't wait to see pictures as it sounds awesome. Good luck with finding some rhinestones!! Or pearls.

What does your dress look like? Does it have pearls in it?

Margie- I bought tulle b/c it was only .77 cents per yard, and then it was on sale. So I figured what the hey, it can be my practice one. And what I bought isn't sparkly, the tulle you gave me is. So I'm seeing which one I like better. (Don't worry, I'll use every bit of the tulle you gave me. )

I know both Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart have veils for like $8-15, and they look just fine. They just didn't have the length I wanted, drat it.

Robyn- here's my dress. It has lots of rhinestones on it, not entirely sure about the pearls. I don't have it here to look, lol. But, pearls would go with it, and I think there are a few in with the stones.
