Hair up or down?
I've been thinking... does anyone have an opinion for hairstyles for wedding pictures? I remember my mom telling me when I was little that if you have your hair up in a picture, it makes you look bald. For those brides who had their hair up or are planning on having their hair up for their wedding, was/is this a problem?
It's going to be August and an outdoor wedding so I kind of want my hair up but I don't wanna look bald in my wedding pictures!

I haven't seen any photos where the bride looked bald! But I have seen some seriously unflattering hair styles...
There was one (no on here I hasten to add) that had a very round face (like I do) but she had the front scraped flat to her head, so it really did look like a ball... Not the best look.
I think hair up can look very pretty, it is supposed to look really good if you have a short neck because it draws the eye from your arm right along your shoulder & up...
I generally like it down though...
I'm going in between... Back from my face, but curled softly (hopefully) at the back...

I don't know if that's true - I just didn't put mine up because it's unflattering for me (makes my nose look big). What kind of style were you thinking about? If there's volume on top, I don't knink you habe anything to worry about - just experiment with a few different styles and figure out what works best for you.

I love up-dos for the wedding. I like no fuss, no muss and I have very thin, fine, bone straight hair. So any sort of curly or styled do would flop; literally and figuratively!
It does all depend on your face, the dress, your veil, casual or very formal.
I had mine down for this wedding and hate most of the pix because I was hot and my hair shows it! Wedding #2 ( otherwise known as the "Big" one or renewal) I will have it up for sure!!!!

I wore mine half up and i have a large forhead. It is all going to depend on you forhead and if you have a receded hairline (it is common, i have it).

I wore mine up and didn't look bald in any of my pics! Just don't have it slicked straight back and you shouldn't have a problem!

Thanks for the tips ladies. We are planning a garden wedding so I thought something with my hair pulled back in a french twist maybe with flowers tucked in or something. I'm not sure and don't have any pictures to show anyone. It was just a question I've been meaning to ask you all. thanks!

My hair was only partially up for the ceremony. For the reception I wore it like I would normally. It was really important for me to look like me. I don't know if that makes sense, lol. I didn't wear a lot of make-up, just eye shadow, eye-liner, mascara, and a touch of blush. My big brother actually commented before we walked down the aisle. He said: "I'm so happy to see my little sister, look like my little sister. I was worried you were going to be too made up."
So, my point is, go with your comfortable with.

That hairstyle is gorgeous! I like a lot. And with some dainty flowers, it would be perfect!

I like updos for straight haired people but lightly done not tight and all slicked back. Im doing half up cause I have naturally curly hair I want to show off. And my mother and gma would kill me if I "shoved all this beautiful curl into an updo" as they would say. lol

that's really similar to what I was thinking Ann! My hair is only shoulder length right now. I always try to grow it out but end up getting so sick of it, I'll just get it chopped one day on a whim. My FH likes my hair shorter though (a few inches above the shoulder) so I don't know if I want to attempt to grow my hair out so I can do a cute, curly updo or a cute bob with curls or something for the wedding. I don't think I'll have a veil but I do want a tiara of course, that may change... We are having a pretty informal wedding - I want it to be laid back even though we'll be in wedding attire. Like I've said before, my wedding is a ways away, but it's just a question I've been thinking about.

So this is totally different than a french twist with flowers, but if I do decide to go with short hair for the wedding, I really like this hairstyle with the tiara. It's so simple but looks really lovely, I think. What do you all think?
yea, first time trying pictures, and it works!

I was sent this link. You can put your head shot here and then try out different styles to see what you like better.
