mind blowing Printing Envelopes

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to figure out the easiest way to print our address on the back of the envelopes. I'm printing them myself, because I have to send 155 of them out, and it will take way too much time to do them by hand, and calligraphers want anywhere from $2-3 per envelope! Has anyonee done this for their invitations? If so, please share.
The wedding is creeping up, and I haven't even gotten the invitations out yet.

Thanks!!!

How about printing them on clear labels?

labels is what i did. look in microsoft word, i think it has a setting for envelopes. I don't remember for sure, and i don't have any of those programs on my computer. If you have a card making program there will more than likely be something in there. There is also www.wiltonprint.com you just have to select an invitation and then click envelopes.

We went with the clear labels and they turned out very nice. I'm sure the post office appreciated because they were all legible but they still looked nice because the label blended in with the envelop since it was clear and we picked a pretty font. It was a lot faster too.

I did it through mail merge in word.

It took a bit of practice but it's not difficult once you get the hang of it... Especially if you have standard sized envelopes. Mine were very skinny & long...

I can probably talk you through it if you want to give it a go (& have spare envelopes...)

ETA: I found this very useful. Even though I was using a different version of word. Instead of downloading the worksheets it talks about you just open up your own version of word & try out what they say. Gives you wee tests to make sure you've got the hang of it...

oh ya, i can walk you through a mail merge too. Its pretty easy once you get the hang out of it.

You just have to decide if you want to print on labels or envelopes.

Thanks Everyone!
I definitely want to print on the actual envelope. I want to put the address on the front, and the return on the back flap (possibly sealing it with a wax or faux wax seal)
I've never used the mail merge setting. What exacly does it do?

I've never really understood how mail merge functions and it bothers me because it doesn't seem like it should be that complicated!

Ann, I'll try that link you gave when I get home and see if I can figure it out but now that I know I have some resources, I might be asking for help.

I'm a smart girl, I should be able to do that.

I love the microsoft learning pages

That's how I learned to use most of word, and how I learned to use excell too!

Mail merge can be a bit fidly to start with, but once you get it you start to wonder what the hell the problem was! lol. I found it really useful.

Jazi: I printed directly onto the envelope, I had the namde & address in the same font I had on the inside of the invited. Then in the top left corner had the return address in a smaller size.

You can find so many pretty fonts that will look like calligraphy, but save you a fortune!

It just takes a bit of practise.

Wembley: just give me a shout if you run into any problems.

Basically how mail merge works is you type up your names and addresses into excel, using normal titles for each column, like name, address, city, state, zip code.

Then you go to MS Word and go to tools, mail merge, and from there you can choose to do envelopes, forms, letters or labels. You then choose the excel file where you want the info from. Then it shows you your template, whether its an envelope, label whatever and you insert where you want each field, like you want the name in the first row, address in the second row etc then you click merge and it shows you each name and address on each form or envelope or wahtever you used. Basically so you wont go back and forth typing every single name.

Sounds great. Unfortunately I thought I was so on top of things and did all of my addresses in word Oh well, not such a big deal.
I think the merge thing is the best way to go.
Any suggestions on fonts that Microsoft word provides that look like calligraphy?

i think monotype corsiva is available on all versions of word, so you cant go wrong with that. Other fonts may not work if you go use another computer

Thanks...Well, in case anyone wants it...the woman who did the invitations sent me a link to a free download of the font that will go on my envelopes. I'm sure there are lots more on the site as well:
