Default Bridesmaids Dresses

When are you supposed to order them? I bought my dress way early because it was being discontinued. But I thought we'd wait to buy the girls dresses and the lady called from the bridal store and was like, your girls really need to come in and order their dresses it's still like 8 months away, wtf?

You might want to go ahead and order, just so you don't have to worry about it.. and sometimes they can get back ordered too... But I don't think its absolutely necessary to right now..

We all talked about this b-4 but I can't remember what every one had to say. I didn't order mine mom made them. I think I recall some people saying it took a few months to come in. I can't see it taken 8 months!

I ordered mine in early February and they got here last week, so I'm sure you don't need to order them 8 months in advance. Maybe she meant you need to start researching and narrowing down choices.

I think 8 months is a bit much, I would say the average is 3-4 months?? mines are taking 3 months. (they should be in by the end of may)

If it takes 8 months I guess I should reschedule my wedding

My girls ordered theirs in late March, and they're supposed to be shipped May 20th. Which only gives roughly four weeks for alterations. So, we cut it kind of close really. But I would say no later than 3 months before.

It depends on the manufacture. Some take 4 months to ship and often have delays on top of that. Then if they need alterations?

If you already have selected the dress, ask the shop what the typical turnaround is for that specific manufacture.

Mine took a good 4 months. They just came in and I was getting very nervous. I'm thinking all of the girls will need at least some alterations. It would have been better to just order them earlier and then not have to worry.

I have been thinking about this so much could happen in 8 months. I belive it would be alright to start looking for a dress but to order them I would wait a few more months.

I had picked out a dress. Her words were," K, S, M and M need to come in and pay for their dresses." She missed a bridesmaid as well. Guess they work on commission and she needs the money...

The real problem with this is my sisters are on Weight Watchers and so they could be very different sizes by the wedding, so I was trying to give them as much time as possible before I made them order dresses. Especially the one who's getting married because she won't be able to try and lose too much weight between my wedding and needing to order her dress.

I think the thing I was really taken aback by was she didn't just say they need to order them she said they needed to pay, like the money was the important part, when half of them haven't even tried the dress on.

I ordered the BM dresses along with my gown a year out - I wanted to allow ample time for alterations and any unforseen problems. The FG dress I waited until a couple of months out so she wouldn't outgrow it before the wedding.

Maybe you could call the store and ask to speak to someone else and see what they have to say about the situation? It does seem in that case that she is saying the money is what is needed, instead of that the girls might order them too late. Also, is there some sort of deposit that they need to put down to order the dresses? Could she be referring to something like that?

Kenzies_mama,

We had the BM dresses ordered in February (wedding in June). Our local shop wanted a 50% deposit with the order and the balance due when the dress came in. They were returnable with a small service fee at that point, once alterations started the dress is yours forever or at least to you try and dump it on eBay! Spring is alwasy the busiest time since there are so many proms/formals in addition to it being the most favored time of the year for weddings. Our dresses came in in around 6 weeks (mid March or so) One had a slight imperfection and they offered to replace it or take a few $ off ... the girl opted for the discount as the altertions hid the imperfection.

Good Luck!

Lori

For my October wedding, I ordered the dresses in about Feb. I did have one BM lose 2 sizes, and the store let her exchange for a smaller size. I know they usually say "Final Sale" but they let her. I just had found the dresses that I wanted and decided to move forward and get it out of the way. My suggestion is if you already know what you want, see if they will let the girls doing weight watchers exchange them if needed. Then you can get it out of the way and move onto other things.

I think you can order them around 3-6 months before your wedding. You dont want to order them so early because some of the bridesmaids might gain or lose weight around the time of the wedding. On the other hand, you don't want to order them so late because there might not be time for alterations anymore

I would order them now as well. My Bm's got measured in November and we just just got our dresses now. It took 5 months to recieve them. Keep in mind any alterations.

Where are you getting them from?

At the wedding shoppe here i ordered mine a month ago, mid Feb. My wedding is in July, i was told to order early. Well they got here last week! Which is good because i have to mail 3 all the way to Michigan, so it allows time for the girls to get alterations done if needed. But my BM dresses are very simple so i dont think they took long to make. I also had to put half down on the dresses for them to order and when i pick them up i will pay the other half.

I was wondering why MB bumped the other one! Now I get it.

I was gonna say, is the wedding back on?
