My name is Annie and I'm 23. I live in Minnesota in an apartment with my FH, Dustin.
My mom and dad are wonderful people that have been happily married for 27 years. Mom started out teaching Spanish in High School and realized she didn't care for teaching students that were taller than her and not very nice. She then switch to a home day care once I came into the picture. She did that for 20 years and loved it. It was great having my mom home all the time but it was hard sometimes having to share everything. Now she works at the same place I do so we get to spend our day together again. My dad got the family business from his dad. He sells eyeglasses in a little shop across the street from where my mom and I work. He's wonderful at what he does but he's not the best business man so it's always interesting to see what kind of pay check he'll actually get to bring home -but he loves what he does and his customers love him. I have an older brother (Matt who is 26) who just got married this past August. While growing up we didn't appreciate each other but now I love him and his wife.
I went to school for psychology, worked in a preschool, and now I work for a home health care company in the corporate office. I'm searching for a new job. Some day I'll actually figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
I met my FH while in Junior High. We had gym class together and that year our teacher had a lot of health problems (everything turned out fine for him in the end) and so we had substitutes all the time. That ended up being open gym class because the sub didn't care. There were two gyms connected, one was huge and one was literally the size of a basketball court, no room for people on the sidelines. That gym had a stage set up with a couch on it for play practice. After I got tired of running after the ball when we would be shooting hoops (Dustin liked to throw and miss on purpose so I would have to run after the ball), we sat on the couch and talked. We were really good friends then. Throughout high school we stayed friends but lost touch after graduation.
I had some bumpy times my freshman year of college. I had some rough life circumstances and then made some not so smart life choices. I got to the middle of my sophomore year and I decided I wasn't going to date anyone for a long while to figure myself out and what I really wanted for myself and where I was going. About two or three weeks later I got an instant message from someone I didn't recognize saying hello to me and used my name. I don't normally talk to people I don't know but I was curious so I responded. It turned out to be Dustin. We got together and were dating a week later. I was nervous because I really felt something different and special between us but I was afraid I hadn't waited long enough to straighten myself out. He did see some of my very crazy side but it turned out to be the best move I could have made. Three and a half years later he got down on one knee.
