Okay so here is the deal...my reproductive tract is fine..BUT, i have been getting this weird sorta heartburn feeling every morning, but its always painful - so I finally went to the Dr who sent me Saturday for an abdominal sono. Well, he called me this afternoon...I have gall stones, some of which are too large to "let go"

I took off this Weds, I go back to him then to discuss the options. He wants me to have them taken care of immediatly b/c if they attempt to pass he says I'll have a bigger issue....and he said "In the meantime...until Weds, if you havea fever or pain worse than usual call me and go to the ER immediatly".... UGH...how am I going to plan a wedding with all of this crap.

I looked arounda little & asked some Dr.s at my job & they said that depending on how many & the size, its likely that I'll be in the hospital at least opvernight, if not 2 days. And my Dr said there is a chance of having to remove the gall bladder... MAMA MIA... they can't blast it out b/c of the location.

I'm not happy.

Ugh. I'm so sorry!!! That truly sucks. I guess if you HAVE to have it done, it is better sooner rather than later. How soon does he want you to go in and get it taken care of??

I'm not sure how soon yet..I'll find out Weds when I go there - but I think he meant - imminently...

Well on the good side, it's happening now and not the week of the wedding.

I feel for you! I'm sorry this is happening at all. I hope though that it will be a short recovery and they won't have to remove your GB!

I'm sorry but its good they found it now. It's not that bad I had mine taken out a year ago and I went in at 4am and I was out at 7pm. I was in bed the next day by the 3rd day I felt a lot better. I did have pain for about a week but it wasn't that bad. My sister had it a few months ago and she was the same way. When Kenny had it done it was on a Wed. by Monday he was back in the big truck. LJ that is VERY comforting. I'm not one to take off or call in sick...I've had a handful of surgeries & I always go into work the day after if possible. In fact, I had my 1st son on a weds...and on Monday I went back to work (only about 25-30 hours a week though).

Thank you for letting me know. I do feel much more at ease...its more of an inconvenience, ya know??

You guys really are such a blessing!!

I went to my PCP to discuss the sonogram report & options. He said that in his opinion, there are no options besides "which hospital & which surgeon." So he gave me the referral to the surgeon, my appt. is next Thursday and we'll schedule the surgery some time after that....grrr... at least it'll be over with soon enough before the wedding!!

Just an update. I go to the surgeon on Thursdy at 4pm to see about the surgery & all that good stuff. I am sure it'll all be fine, I don't know yet when the surgery will be but for me, and my job it'll be great if its the middle of May!! We'll see...I'll let y'all know Thursday!

OK - saw the surgeon this afternoon. They are definitely taking the gall bladder out. The surgery will be in about 3 weeks- but the girl who does the scheduling will call me hopefully in the next 5-7 days to let me know the date & all that good stuff! The Dr is hoping that he can do it as a laporoscopy - which will be great, but there is a chance b/c of the swelling that he will have to cut

- if he does NOT, then I should be home the next day - possibly even that day if I can convince them of how great I feel!! So, as soon as I know when I'll let you know.

this is the first time I've ever met this surgeon - he is HOT! just thought I'd add that

Where are my single girls - y'all come for the surgery - he is single too!!

Thank you so much!! I appreciate it. I know it'll all be ok! Just wish I could get it over with. Last night, for the first time, I actually had a lot of pain from it - I thought that was it, I thought I'd have to go to the ER & go into emergency surgery. Thankfully it passed. I hope it doesn't happen again. I dunno, seems better to go in planned than as an emergency...doesn't it?? ugh.

I'm sitting at my desk wincing for you. My first thought was at least you went to the doctor early on before it caused you too much pain. My second thought was that hopefully this is a "down-time" for you in wedding planning. I know around 6 months out I really didn't have that much to do. Good news is that it sounds like this surgery won't be hugely invasive and you'll get out soon. You sound like a fighter, so you'll be on your feet in no time!

I don't know that I would like having a hot doctor. I'd be embarassed that he was going to see me at my worst.

Thank you for the kind words and nice thoughts! The problem being 6 months out is that - I wa NEVER more than 6 months out. We just made these plans a couple of weeks ago, so there is a handful to do yet, but its not that big of a dal - I am a supreme procrastinator - and DF is NOT AT ALL. So between the two personalities, we're ahead of the game...well not yet, but we're getting there

I have a feeling she's gonna blow (the gall baldder) before the surgery is scheduled - either way, my HOT HOT HOT Dr will be there no matter what (thats what he says) - so I dont' mind
