Make-up ideas?
Same idea as the hair thread, just make up
No idea what you want to do???
Can we start a thread that is just filled with everyones ideas. That way we can bounce ideas, steal ideas and laugh with each other

I really am draw to that glow look. I'm not sure how to obtain it for pictures without looking oily in RL.
I have combo skin that doesn't have that dewy glow look. I have to work hard to keep it balanced. If I clear up the acne then it is dry and flakey. if I use moisterizer most give me cystic acne on my chin.
So, needless to say, I'm stumped at what to do to get it AND have it look good in both color and B/w photos!
something like this

Breezy have you tried the Clean and Clear moisturizer with the salicylic acid in it? I use it. Got it a few weeks ago. I love it. Keeps me moisturized while clearing my skin at the same time. It is relatively cheap too. $7.99 a bottle.

Thanks Steph, I will have to try that!!!! Do you have sensitive skin? can you use this daily?
I worry about using anything very strong every day. The acid or benzoyl prodicts work great, but they dry my skin out to the point of almost burning it if I use daily.

I do have to be careful about what I put on my skin. I break out easily. You only need a tiny drop too. The bottle should easily last 2 years. I use it in the morning and at night too.

I just got the Bare Minerals mineral make-up and it is great. I have oily skin and I feel like my complexion is dull. It has some kind of reflector minerals in it that make me look glowy. Not sure how to describe it. It also has great coverage. I am just so happy I found it. I also found that with oily skin I need to moisturize. If I don't I get even oilier. I also have a problem with the cystic acne and have been using a antibiotic from the dermatologist and that is working great.
If you go to the Bobby Brown make-up counter they can tell you how to use make-up to play up your good features and downplay the ones you don't care for.

I know I'm excited but its all starting to make me go crazy! I've tried to lay off on the planing for a few days and it seem to be helping. I've been trying to get my house all clean and get monkeys room cleaned out. I'm going to move my computer and every thing in there . Plus all my cloths and Kenny's won't fit in our room. So I am going to move all my close to the other room so Kenny can have the closet to his self. He is crazy about his close every thing has to be perfect. He is so funny about how his close hang. So I think this will work so much better. He wanted me to move the guest room from up stairs to Monkeys old room but I don't want to have to go up stair every time I want to get on the computer. So I'm going to spend the rest of the week cleaning and getting every thing ready and then after the weekend I will get down and dirty with the wedding.

Bebe got us all hooked on that last year! That's what I'm using for my wedding too... It lasts for hours & doesn't feel heavy like normal make up

Make-up? Huh?
so maybe I'm a little strange but I've never worn make-up--ever. I have no idea how to even put it on except for watching my older sister but layer after layer of eye shadow on in the 8th grade . My FMIL was shocked when I told her I'll probably need her help for the wedding.
My main concern though, is that I don't wear make-up primarily because I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin that breaks out with any product I use. I can only use water to wash it and I have sensitive skin moisturizer (My mom's is the same way).
Alas, I have no help on the subject of make-up for the wedding day. but anyone who could offer advice to me on how not to look pastey for pictures without breaking out in hives and boils , I would greatly appreciate it!

I've got quite sensitive skin (though I don't get boils from make up!) I found the Bare Minerals has worked really well with my skin. I'm pretty sure they do sample sizes or starter kits, I had to order mine online as I'm in the UK, but I think it was either Bebe or Suzt that said the people who sell it can show you how to apply it properly, not that it is tricky at all!
I think Heather (?) said she had got it at Sephora... I'm pretty sure Suzy said she went off it after a wee while because it's so hot & her skin gets a bit too oily for it... (was that you Suzy?)
The best thing for it is to find something that won't kill your skin then practice lots! I still try out all sorts of different looks.
If you want someone to talk you through it all once you've found one you can wear then just give me a shout (or a PM )

I'm really big on the natural look, and was just as adament about it on my wedding day. I wanted to look like me. On my wedding day I just wore a touch of eye shadow, a touch of blush and my always present mascara and eye liner. I never, ever wear lipstick and didn't wear it that day either.

Yeah, that was me. If you have really oily skin I think the Bare Minerals smears off after awhile. I found that it also settled into the wrinkles on my forehead. I dunno, it just wasn't for me! I'll stick with my Clinique! I ordered from Sephora too by the way.

If your skin is super sensitive just don't wear foundation, just find a concealer that matches really well and use it on spots that NEED it only. I never wear foundation the feeling of it just bothers me. Clinque products are also supposed to be good for super sensitive skin.

Thanks everyone, for your advice! My wedding isn't for a while, but I'm sure I will need help with the makeup issue. I'll look up bare minerals and see if they do have trial packages. Maybe, just maybe, my skin will like it!

Hmmm, makeup. I can't honestly say that I worry much about it because I have very resilient skin. I can do basically anything to it and it can take it. It looks very nice if I just wash it with a good exfoliant and put a little bit of moisturizer on it.
My biggest problem is finding flattering color pallates for eyeshadow -- I need to keep everything very earthy and can't go too dark because my eyes are deep set, but because my eyes are deep set, subtle color doesn't always show in photos.
Right now I really like the Sonia Kashuk makeup. It's sold at Target, so it's affordable, but it's a nice quality, and she has put together color pallates based on hair color -- I have the one for auburn hair and it's fantastic. The pigments are very intense, so a little goes a long way, and the colors really are flattering.
I highly recommend taking a look at her cosmetics if you're a bride on a budget and don't have to worry about sensitive skin. I think for the wedding I may get her Holiday Eye Kit, I've bought other false lashes but would like to try hers out.
I basically just want a look that will play up my features and show up nicely in photos. I'd like a bit of drama around the eyes, but nothing that makes them look too dark. Here's hoping I can come up with it!

Hey girls, just came across this trying to find a photo to add to my last post. Thought it might help someone!

Makeup Tips for Weddings
Take into consideration the following when deciding on your makeup and hair:
1) Time of day the ceremony is taking place. Night-time weddings are obviously more formal and warrant a more sophisticated look. Daytime weddings tend to be more natural.
2) In or outdoors. Outside lighting is strong and so the makeup needs to be soft and natural. Also, again with formality, outdoor weddings tend to be less formal .
3) The lighting. Different lighting warrants different makeup. Nighttime lighting tends to show less and so a stronger makeup is needed, day lighting again goes more natural. Candlelight shows more gold on the skin and so shimmer and gloss can be utilized to soften the face. Also for the reception, what is the lighting like? Florescent lighting tends to wash out the face and give things a green tone.
4) The color of your dress. Ivory and off-white tend to make the skin look softer and so can take a more glamorous makeup. White tends to look strong and washes out most faces. It is important that the face is well blended so as to not look stark, but soft color is needed.
5) The neckline of your dress, the length, the sleeves. The stronger the neckline, the more sophisticated the hair & makeup should be. For example, a neckline that cuts deep and is off the shoulders needs to have the hair up so that the line of the neck and shoulders is shown off. The shorter the dress, the more simple the hair and makeup should be. The more simple the dress, the more simple the hair and makeup.
6) You are creating an entire picture...do not put on the ornate dress and heels and then wear your hair and makeup like you do when you have on jeans. Don't sell yourself short on such a memorable day.
7) Do not be afraid to wear a red lip. Remember that there are different reds for different skins.
8) Do not over-do. One feature should be emphasized at a time. If you do the red lip and the super made-up eyes, you will look like you have on too much makeup.
9) Unless you have facials on a regular basis, DO NOT get one the week before your wedding. They can pull impurities to the surface, and you do not want to break out the week of. Also, do not make any major changes in skincare the few weeks before, for the same reason.
10) Sounds crazy, but if at all possible, try not to set your wedding date during that time of the month.
11) If you get a breakout, do not pick. Do not do anything that can irritate or redden or enlarge the problem. Use pure aloe vera to treat and heal any bumps or breakouts. It is a wonderful healer.
12) The most important part of your wedding makeup, besides waterproof mascara, is a perfect looking skin. Learn how to get coverage without looking mask-like. And make sure that your foundation matches your skin exactly.
13) If you don't wear foundation normally, unless your skin is absolutely perfect, it is a good idea to have one for this day.
14) When you purchase your waterproof mascara, make sure that you have an eye makeup remover that also takes off waterproof mascara. You do not want to be stuck in Aruba with week old mascara that you cannot get off, or rip off half of your lashes trying to remove it.
15) Remember, you want to look like yourself. You want your prospective spouse to recognize you when you walk down the aisle. And, you also want to look and feel very beautiful. Pamper, priss, and preen, it is your day.
16) In 20 years that hot pink lipstick and big hoop earrings will date your wedding photos. You want to look as classic as possible so that your photo memories are timeless.

I have this problem (minus boils). I love the natural look. I don't like the cake-y look. I use Physician's Formula. It's the only stuff I have found that did not make me break out in hives.

thanks Widdle! I'll look into it. (I don't really get boils but I might as well for how badly I break out!)

The Bare Minerals Starter Kit actually comes with a DVD of how to apply it.
