I'm Kerry, I'm 20, and I also live in BC Canada, about an hour and a half away from Lisa actually. My fiance is DJ, and I posted a photo of him in the hot man thread. He is 25. I am the oldest of two, my bro is 18. My mom and my dad live about 45 minutes from DJ and I.
I met DJ during my second month of journalism school. My friends and I were about to take our first university midterm and were freaking out about it. We asked him for help, and he apparently thought I was cute then. We were both dating other people (the older members have heard about his psycho ex at least once), so nothing happened. We talked a bit after that but nothing substantial. After my ex and I broke up in December, we started talking more. DJ had broken up with his ex around the same time.
One night I had a movie night at my house, and my friend brought DJ (we're all in journalism school, DJ is a year ahead though, so he graduates this year...woohoo). DJ stayed for a bit after everyone left and helped me clean up. A few days later, he asked me out in front of three of my friends, during a car ride downtown to take photos of a protest rally. He actually complimented me on my toenail polish, if I remember correctly.
This was in February 2004. We got engaged 6 months later, in August. I don't have a ring yet as he is designing one for me, and because it will have a sapphire instead of a diamond. However, I did get the proposal, and I wear an amethyst promise ring right now.
He proposed by taking me up to the top of a local mountain (Burnaby Mountain for those who know it). We were sitting looking out at the city, and he made me close my eyes. When I opened them he was down on one knee holding the promise ring box.
I cried.
And that is my story. As I've said before, I've kissed many frogs, but I finally found my prince.

Hi, munchkin...
Thanks for submitting your story to the Bridal Journal. Instead of having your story lumped in with Lisa's, I've moved your post to it's own thread. That way it'll stand out more and there won't be any confusion when people reply. That's pretty cool that DJ is designing your ring! My wife hit me when she read that.

haha thanks Steven. I was tired last night and didn't feel like making my own thread. Hopefully you aren't bruised by your wife hitting you
I am very excited by my personally designed ring. Hopefully I get it soon...but don't hold your breath anyone, I don't want you to die.

Thanks for sharing your story
I just love reading all of these how-we-met and how-we-got-engaged stories. They're great.
Maybe I should post mine someday.

Come on Heather, we all want to hear your story too. I don't think i've heard your story yet.
Munchkin, I can't wait to see pictures of your ring either. That is so thoughtful of DJ to take the time to do that for you. Definitly a keeper!
