Default Target Gift Registry....dont Do It

Hey Girls,
Just wanted to let you know that Target's gift registry is horrible. We are getting married in three weeks and I called and had my gift registry from there cancelled. Their return policy is horrible, they didnt want me to return somthing that was bought on the registry. I am only saying this out of experience. If you are registered there, good luck and beware. I knew it was bad, but not this.

Danielle

That's really weird. I return things there all the time with no trouble at all. I wouldn't even think to mention it was from a registry. I wouldn't expect them to give me cash for anything either though, so I don't know. Sorry your experience was bad.

We registered at Target and so far we haven't had any problems, but we haven't gotten any gifts from our registry either. I've never had trouble returning things at Target either, although they always give me gift cards instead of cash.

Did you decide to register somewhere else instead? I'm sorry your Target experience was bad.

My sister had some problems with her wedding registry at target they didn't want them to return any thing that they had on there list. No clue what the deal was they finally had to call the company and have it taken care of.

LOL no harm done. Maybe down here in Palm Beach County we have the lax Targets. My cousin (I'll preface this with "she's incredibly ghetto) returned an air mattress over and over and over and over, just exchanging it out for a new one every few months to Target, no receipt. Ghett-O

Like I said, I return frequently. I buy things without trying them on, and I am always bringing something back every few months. It may have something to do with the stores themselves and their policies. Maybe I'm just lucky You know, I'm also not upset when I receive a gift card 'cause I really do shop there that much. I can see it would be annoying for someone who got a gift from there but doesn't want anything else and is stuck with a card.

I return there all the time and haven't had any problems. But I'm a little wary of their registry because stuff gets discontinued there all the time.

One of the things that Target does....They make you show your ID if you return something without a receipt. Well when you are getting married and people are buying you lots of gifts you dont always have receipts. I tried to return something and didnt hae a receipt. Ive had to return lots of things recently, so when I gave them my ID they wouldnt let me return. There was some kind of hold against me returning... I HATE TARGET!

We are also registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. Their registry is much better

Bed Bath and Beyond is what I've heard is the best re: return policy. They will accept any thing on your registry as a return.
They return it for cash and give you the price it was at at the time registered, even if currently on sale.
We don't need much, but we did register there yesterday.

We really wanted to register at Home Depot and REI, but Home Depot has a limited (to online store) registery and REI doesn't carry the tent we want.

Our Target does not give refunds. They make you buy more stuff not with a gc though. For example: you buy 1 bowl in housewares for 3.00 and one shirt in womens for $8.00. Upon return of these two items, you would have to buy one item in housewares for more than $3.00 and one item in womens for more than $8.00. You cannot add the money together and buy one item for 12.00 or buy something from a different dpartment. And this is with a receipt.

What? That is ridiculous!!! I can see never buying anything at Target if that is the way it is for you, Whiddle. Fortunately our Target is pretty good. And we'll always take the gift cards if we can't get cash.

Whiddle...thats exactly what they did. They wanted us to spend 15 dollars on another item in the same department as the salt and pepper shaker. I was so annoyed. Just beware because some of these things only come out when you start returning a lot. THEY WILL NOT GIVE GIFTCARDS if they think you have returned to much. (That is why they take your ID when you return.) My fiance had to show his for our returns.

I was also banned from returning at Target for the same reasons. There return policy sucks. I have complained to the corporate office and they do not care.

I was given lots of diapers from my baby registry and some shampoos that my DS could not use. I guess you get 3 returns per year without a receipt. My DS grew out of the diapers and I wanted to exchange them for the larger size. I also wanted to exchange the shampoo for one he could use. I did this on 3 seperate occasions and when I went back to exchange something else, I was banned. Boy was I mad!!! No one told me - and what am I supposed to do - sit on 50.00 worth of diapers that did not fit becasue they did not give me a receipt with them??

My sister had her wedding res. there 5 years ago and she took some things back. They gave her hell over it and made her spend out more money to return things and then put her on the ban list. She does a program every summer that gives kids school supplies and she had purchased to many markers and when she went to take them back 5 years later she was still on the ban list she even had a receipt. I ended up having to take them back for her.

Our Walmarts do the x # of times without a reciept thing. They ask for your DL each time you don't have a reciept. If you ASK them why, they will tell you you are only allowed x # of returns without
