Default Bausch & Lomb Renu Moisture Loc Warning

http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/condi....ap/index.html

Guess what? I've been using it for about a year now. YAY! That would explain Richy's excessive eye infections, redness, sensitivity to light and my increasingly blurrier vision. This leads me to believe that you really have to be using it for a while or have sensitive eyes before you should worry.

I know how Ritchie feels. I have been having light sensitivity and blurred vision in my right eye for almost a year. B&L, of course, deny any knowledge of how the contamination occured.

Just to spite, I bought a new bottle of lense solution of an entirely different brand

I just called to make an appointment at the eye-doc for myself, just to be sure. At any rate, something's going on with my vision 'cause it's blurry sometimes and I don't feel like my contacts work as well as they should.

I am panicking right now because I WOKE UP WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE PINK EYE AGAIN TODAY and my eye is leaking junk. I have been wearing my contacts the past few days so I hope I don't have the fungus crap from solution.

Yeah I have been using it for the past year. I didn't hear about this stuff until today after my eye was like this. I bought a new bottle of it on Sunday too!

I hope that isn't why my eye has turned pink several times now. I better go buy a different brand tonight.

Try to exchance the new bottle you got for something else. Bring a copy of the CNN site with you for their information. That should have been pulled off the shelves. It was in the store I went to.

Word from my eye doctor is:
If you aren't having problems or haven't had problems, you are probably OK, but think about switching off until more word is in. It could have been a bad batch as opposed to being bad itself.

I worked for an optometrist for over 3 years and Renu is pretty bad. I think a better choice for a daily cleaner is Opti-free. A really good one, I think, is "Clear Care" or one with a duel hydrogen peroxide formula that will burn off all the proteins and refresh your lenses, such as "Pure Eyes" by Cibavision. Also, if you're having "leakage" or redness (such as conjunctivitis-pink eye- with itchy symptoms and "gooey" crust around the edges), throw your contacts out (if they're disposable, of course. Don't settle for cleaning them - they are too pourous and "hold disease and bacteria). Basically, it comes with a small "cage" where you immerse your soft contacts for 6-8 hours in a hydrogen peroxide solution. The cage usually has a neutralizer attached to the bottom, so after 6-8 hours ( I recommend 8) the lense is 200% safe to put straight into your eye. I recommend doing this once- twice a week, while daily cleaning with clear care or opti-free. When I wore contacts I put up the money for good quality lense care! Your eyes are too precious to f**k with!! I know- I've seen so many patients that mess up their eyes with stupid lense practices. And NEVER wear your lenses for more than 1 month- even the ones that are continuous wear should be taken out at least once a week to let the eye "breath". This site: http://www.clspectrum.com/class/solutions.asp can tell you exactly what is in most of your cleansers and rewetting drops. Good luck! And when in doubt- ask your doctor or the receptionist. It's amazing all the info we learn from reps and fax's and, of course, the doctor.

I use opti-free. But, I did get a free bottle of renu solution at my last eye exam- I threw it away. AND, it inspired me to check my rewetting drops-which I found out expired in September. Good thing I haven't been wearing contacts.

I was using Renu and I was wondering why my eyes stung so much I had to keep taking my contacts out. It was a painful stabbing, burning pain. Not to mention my eyes were red and filled with the pink-eye type of pus. I thought it was my contacts themselves. I switched to Opti-free this week and my eyes were immediately ok. Well, glad I didn't go blind...

Me too! I bought Opti-Free as well. I haven't been getting a pink eye with pus stuff anymore.

Some stores near me haven't pulled the ReNu off the shelves!

I haven't moticed if the stores here have pulled Renu. I have never used the solution-thankfully! I love my opti-free.

Apparently it's only the stuff in the US. Canada and Europe are not affected by it, so don't worry Ann!

Guess what! My eye is RED AGAIN! It wasn't like it this morning. Just went into the womens room, looked at my eye and it is red again!
