I need music help
I need some of your expert help ladies and gentleman...
We have an organist who is very good. I basically have one song that I really want to be playing (Cannon in D) while we walk into the chapel. Other than that, we'll chat with him and find some "pretty wedding music."
The thing that I need help with is we have a friend that plays the guitar beautifully! I would really like him to play a song during the ceremony. I was thinking it would be a good time while we're lighting our unity candle. The problem is I have no clue what song to tell him to play and his typical musical selections are so much what I want at my wedding so he won't be much help.
What's a good guitar song for our ceremony? It can be religious based or not. That doesn't matter. I just want something pretty.

We are doing "grow old with you" Not the one on the wedding singer. It's a great song if I could figure out how to send it to you I will. He plays the guitar while he sings.

It's on his open road CD! I also have the words I emailed him and ask him for them cause I couldn't find them any where I told him what it was for and he changed a few words around to make it better for a wedding. I'm looking for them now.

Here are the lyrics:
I Want to Grow Old With You
It seems like yesterday
We said hello and I learned your name
We started off on something new
We had a lot of loving to do
We made it through that awkward stage
As a new love comes of age
I can say with some certainty
I know you’re the one for me
Chorus: I want to grow old with you
Holding hands our whole lives through
When we’re gray and wrinkled and we can’t walk
We’ll sit around and laugh and talk
And hold each other the way we do
I want to grow old with you
The years have gone by as they should
All the memories we’ve made are good
We fall asleep holding each other tight
And there’s no end in sight
Chorus
There will come a time when we’re both tired
We won’t be young and we won’t be wild
I guess we’ll have to admit we’re old
We’ll still have each other to hold
We’ll spend our last years side by side
Laughing about this crazy ride
All the things that we’ve done and seen
We sure make a heck of a team
Chorus

He just changed a few words like this
I know you’re the one for me
it use to be
I think you're the one for me
I can't remember what else he changed
Only bad part is he don't have sheet music he told me he could try to figure out something but the guy playing for me figured it out with the CD.

The unity candle is something that is lit during the ceremony. You start with two candles that are usually lit by someone from each family. Then when the time comes the bride and the groom both take their individual candles and light one larger candle to represent them joining together as one. Then you can either blow out your individual candles or keep them going as well to show that you will keep your individuality along with the unity.
It's a nice symbol and I think it's a pretty touch to the ceremony. Usually during this there is music going because there aren't really words going on so it's nice to have something happening.

Oh, and I went to the music store and I found some sheet music.
I picked up "How Beautiful," "In This Very Room," and "Household of Faith." I figure I'll bring them to my friend who plays the guitar and see what he likes and thinks he can play better.
I also talked to another friend who sings beautifully to see if she would be interested and willing to sing. She said she would love to. Now the problem is trying to find a time for her to get together with either the guitar player or the organist. Dan the guitar man is an hour and a half away and very busy with his job with odd hours and his little boy. The organist is a professor at a local university and plays at his church. I don't know if he would just meet with her to practice or how that would work.
Too many things to think about
