Invitation Production Day
On Saturday was invitation production day. My parents, my aunts and one uncle, my sister-in-law, my maid of honor and her mom, FH, and I got together and worked hard to get our invitations put together and ready to go.
All of the green paper was already cut and the actual invitation was already printed, I did that a couple of weeks ago. The rsvp stuff, map cards, and addresses weren’t yet printed. They were supposed to be the morning of but the printer decided to die. We ended up going and buying a nice new printer and bringing it with us to print while people were making.
People had to cut the envelope liners, punch holes in the invitations, thread the ribbon and tie it in a bow. They also had to glue the rsvp cards together and stuff the papers in the envelopes and put the address on the front. We also ended up putting return address labels on the rsvp cards with each person’s address. It was because someone had this wonderful idea (that being me) to do something on the rsvp card so people wouldn’t have to write their own name and then I would have to decipher their code. Well it was a fabulous plan at the time but I have no clue what it was and so they got printed but with no place to write a name and no fabulous plan to let me know who’s is whose.
Most all of them are all stuffed, stamped, and sealed. There are just a few left that need either an address or something. The big box full will be able to go out in the mail sometime this week! I’m so excited!
For pictures…
The big box full of invitations ready to go out!
The view from the front of the envelopes (minus the addresses and there are lots of different papers for liners, these are just a few)
Here is the actual invitation (with some details blurred of course)
The rsvp card
The map cards have the map on one side (which you don’t get to see because it’s just a map) and the other side has this info on it
There is also a little piece of paper telling guests that they can look at our website for more information and also to rsvp if they wish. It gives them their pin number if they want to rsvp that way.
I’m so relieved that these are basically done and ready to go out! I thought they’d never get done. It's all so real now!!!

WOW! Those are so fun and amazing. How long did it take you all?
I heard the secret to RSVP cards is to # them and assign that # to each person so when they come back without a name you can figure out who it's from.

That's what we did. Actually, I had a whole spreadsheet made up with collumns for names (for outer and inner envelopes), addresses, phone and e-mail addresses (in case I had to track down RSVP's), responses for adults, kids, infants and decliners, engagement/shower/wedding gifts (so I know who gave what) and a place to check off when I sent the TY's.

Thanks ladies!
I love how the envelopes turned out. They are white but see through and so I was just going to put the things in the envelopes and send them out that way but then it was hard to read the addresses with print behind them and I didn't want the invitation as the last thing they would pull out of the envelope so I had to go to plan b. I got some funny looks when I was explaining my plan to cut the paper for liners. I also got funny looks when we were picking out the paper. FH's mom, my mom, and I went up and down the aisles of a paper store and grabbed huge stacks of paper. We left one of each style in the bins so they would know which one was gone. We were trying to be nice at least.
On Saturday it took us about 4 to 5 hours but we weren't working hard the entire time. We had fun chatting and eating too. Then I finished licking and sticking stamps on last night for a little while longer.
For the rsvp's I thought about doing numbers and I think that was my original plan but then when it came down to production day, it didn't happen and I didn't have time to organize the numbers and the list and still have time to have my help do the work. It worked out just fine with the return addresses because I already had the labels and the information was on the computer already. I'm happy with how it worked out.
Now I just need to bring them to the post office and actually send them out.
