Default To see or not to see, that is the question.

If you are already married or have been did you choose to see your FI prior to the wedding ceremony?

If you aren't married yet are you planning on seeing him prior or waiting until the ceremony?

Why or why not?

No, I wanted to surprise him at the alter.

We woke up together. But after breakfast, I didn't see him again until I was walking down the aisle. He still had the "ahhhh" moment when the church doors opened and I was standing there.

But that could be because the organist got mixed up and started to play my entry music as my MOH (his sister) was walking down the aisle. I think he was just grateful he wasn't marrying his sister.

I think that when you are our age, and had been living together 5 years, it is a sort of empty tradition. Originally, the "not seeing the bride" was because marriages were arranged, and they didn't want the groom to run shrieking off when he saw what his bride looked like. We were past that point.

i dont want him to see my dress or anything...

i have this vision from a wedding story where the bride walked in and everyone gasped... the camera was on the groom and you could SEE his breath being taken away and his best man too and the bm reached over and patted his shoulder in that "atta boy" fashion.... i want that... *shrug*

So since FH and I have lived together over 2 years, you think that he'd still get that ahhh moment if we spent the night before together?

I want as many pictures b-4 the wedding as possible. So we will see each other b-4 the ceremony. After the ladies have there picture They will go back in the church and Kenny will come down to the garden and see me for the first time. We will only have the photographer there with us. Then we will have lunch together and then we won't see each other till the ceremony.

I'm not sure what we want to do. Alan is kinda wanting to wait for that moment. There is a part of me that wants it to be private the 1st time he sees me. Like we just get to relax and be with each other for 20-30 minutes a day without any interuptions or others around.

Plus I would really like to get pics out of the way prior so we don't have to worry about holding up the party.
(needless to say I haven't voted )

We departed after the rehearsal dinner the night before and he didn't see me until I was walking down the aisle. I guess the main reason was that I wanted that ah ha moment too and I got it. I'll post the pic of my hubby the first time he sees me.

His face just lit up as you can tell and I felt amazing. I couldn't take my eyes off of him.

I agree...that is going to be beautiful!!
I'm not sure what we'll do yet. FH said the other day "So, we like, have to spend the night before apart?" I am afraid to "hope" for him to have that winded moment when he first sees me and then have him NOT be amazed....

I want him to see me before the ceremony. I don't think he'll be able to have an authentic reaction because everyone will be watching, and he and I are both so private.

This is the only wedding tradition that I think is really cute and special We'll probably end up seeing each other since ours is very intimate, and we live together. But I think it's really nice when other couples do this.

My ex-husband and I took our pictures and had the rehearsal before the ceremony (blizzard the night before, so rehearsal was canceled then). I know Dave and the kids and I will spend the day together before our wedding. There won't be any aisle or anything--just all arrive on the beach together.

We did the whole spend the night apart thing. DH stayed at home with the dogs, so he could take them to the kennel the next morning. And, I stayed at a local hotel with my maids. For me, it was mostly for the fun of it. I didn't get to have a bridesmaids luncheon, because of one of my maids coming in from out of town, so I paid for the hotel that night, and we did a sort of mini spa party.

We did our pictures before the ceremony, so we had to see each other then. However, we did spend the night before apart.

I spent the night at my dad's house. My husband's bachelor party was the night before our wedding, and I didn't want to be home alone all night. Also - I really did want the "wow" factor with him not seeing me until I started walking down the aisle.

I would do this again if I were going through it. I loved spending the night at my dad's house because my step-mom made me coffee the next morning and my step-siblings took care of my kids for me. I didn't have to do anything except worry about myself - it was great!

Like Wynelle, I woke up with my XH on the morning of our wedding. He was supposed to go stay with his Mom, but something happened at the last minute and she told him she didn't want him staying there. (She's psycho)

Jerry and I will also wake up together whenever we get married.

We're going to spend it apart. But then, we don't live together now!

I'm staying at the hotel where we are having the reception, so I'll have my portrait shots taken there in the morning... Mo will stay at his house, and he'll have his portrait shots taken in the morning... (we have a husband & wife team of photographers).

The first time he'll see me is (hopefully) as I'm walking up the isle... But he thought he hadn't to look! We were talking about it last week and he said something about not looking, I couldn't believe it! I really want him to look, I don't know if he'll do the WOW face, but I still want to see his face when he sees me

Heather: that is a perfect photo of a WOW face

Bob dropped me off at my Mom's after rehearsal dinner, loaded up my luggage in the car and I didn't see him again until 1pm the next day. Oh my gosh he was so handsome. I have talked to Bob about this and I asked him what his first reaction was, it always something different that he says, like I was beautiful, the dress was beautiful, he was gonna get busy later (if ya know what I mean ), etc. I suspect they all went ZOOMING at once But I remember my reaction. I looked at him standing up there all nervous looking and thought to my self, I am marrying the most wonderful man in the world! Then I had to tug on my brother to slow down and not march me in a gallop to the alter!

We might spend the night before apart, simply because we can't sleep together - he works nights, I'm up with the baby days, so we don't sleep in the same bed! Plus, he has to wrangle his groomsminion and mother - both chronically late - and they won't be getting ready with me, the bridesminions, and my mom, so it makes sense that he won't be around then.

But - we are doing pictures beforehand. Our ceremony is at 5:30, and reception starts at 7. There's no cocktail hour, and we'll be starving, so I don't want to be doing pictures all low-blood-sugary. We'll do pics, get married, and go EAT!
