Default Just stuff

Bob and I are planing our summer already. We are trying to be careful with funds right now (loaning a family member some money and getting debt free ourselves) so will be planing several camping and fishing trips.

Last year we went to KY for neaarly two weeks, plus had nearly a week long vacation in October, so this year will be different. I feel so bad about Bob not getting his dream vacation, but it is something he decided on his own. Our dream vacation will just have to wait a few years. We do plan to start saving for an RV and a Dodge truck though and maybe in a couple years be able to buy that. Then watch out, anyone in our path will be getting a visit!

What does everyone plan to do this summer?

Back to work and homework....

YAY for a fun summer!

I will be working, but my kids will be at the rec center here on the island having fun. Oh, and I'll be here, complaining about every single tropical disturbance in the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico all summer too.

Hubby and I were planning to go camping again this summer but I'm not sleeping on the ground while pregnant....and I just realized I don't think I'd posted here yet that I'm pregnant but I am.

So instead, we're joining the extended family at the beach in July when I'll be 7 months pregnant. I'll be hotter than hades anyway so why not enjoy the beach while I'm at it. One last time flying coupled before the little one graces us. We're also planning to spend quite a bit of time relaxing in the apartment complex pool and in the air conditioned apartment

I can't wait for summer this stupid cold weather is driving me nuts

First - aug05bride - Congrats on your pregnancy! I don't think I remember you posting that.

Now - On to summer plans. My husband and I take the kids on a vacation every year. We were just talking about what we could do this year. We have the same two or three primary destinations, and it's starting to get a little tired. Our vacations typically consist of either Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm (near Disneyland), Universal Studios Hollywood, San Diego Zoo, and Legoland. We've also taken more "local" vacations to Santa Cruz, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy (an amusement park).

I'm trying to get my husband to think outside of the box this year in hopes that we can pick a new destination. It's getting to the point that I don't want to take pictures on vacation because while the kids look older each time, the backgrounds never change.

Any suggestions for stuff that we can do in a week without having to fly? I'm in Northern California if that helps. Just don't suggest camping because I can't stand to camp.

How about Crater Lake? The whole coast of Oregon? Grand Canyon? Yosemite? Visit Kim and Bob in Tacoma...... Oh BTW WA state Governor signed a bill this week making all our state parks free for day use. I hope that doesn't mean a ton of people are always at the park!

DH and I want to go camping sooner than later. But with the honeymoon using up all of our vacation time for 2006 we can't take more than a weekend. I'm considering booking us at a bead a breakfast somewhere in Texas but I dont know...are B&B's more for girls or would a guy like it too?

Next summer we are taking a cruise though...and possibly a New York trip!

Wow a lot of campers here. Not for me!!!

I dont get a vacation this summer. Probably would be wrong to ask for vacation time when i start a new job in may and then taking a week or two off in september for the wedding!

We'll have the honeymoon in May, but I doubt we'll get another holiday... After the wedding we'll be trying to save for a down payment for our first house...

Although I said no holiday, I did see an ad today for the Download festival & was very, very tempted... But it is about £300 for the two of us for the weekend...

Congratulations Aug. I hope your pregnancy goes well

Well we have a small tent but it's not gonna work for this year..... we want to use our air mattress so we are looking at some tents at Cabela's and REI. I like the ones at Cabela's more and they have really good ratings for water restistance (good prices too). So since we live in the great Northwest, that is a plus. We are members of REI though...... So who knows. We have to buy a stove too (already picked out what we want from REI), and we bought our sleeping bags monday..... nice and roomy ones that are long enough for my tall DH. Also looking at a new bike for me. I am really looking forward to the summer and camping, course I have always enjoyed camping.

I do know I don't want a wallyworld tent if we can help it! We are looking for a 10x10 or a 10x12 so we can store our gear inside too.

One I like ishere and another is here. The first one would be good becuase you can easily stand up in it and when it rains you are more comfy cause your chairs can be inside with you and there just seems like more space.

Kim, when I was young my parents had a huge tent that could be zipped down the middle to make 2 rooms inside. It was awesome! I wish they still had it. But, we used it until it died and we had to get rid of it.

ETA: The first one you posted is a lot like theirs was. Except theirs was from the 70's so it was brown and harvest gold. LOL

That is similar to the first one. Sure it looks like something we grew up with, but that isn't a bad thing....

ETA: I think we are posting at the same time! LOL

Well we bought our tent on Monday. It's a Kelty and it's HUGE! But was on sale..... It's like, ok what town is going camping with us big! https://www17.ssldomain.com/watersed...p?CategoryID=1 That isn't where we bought it, but that is what we bought (we paid more, hmmmmm ). Also Monday we got Bob's bike looked at and bought me a bike! Wooohoooo! When I was test riding it I had so much fun! Bob said the grin on my face spoke volumes. So now we both have bikes and when we have days off we can go for rides (when weather allows). Also Sunday we went to REI in Seattle when I got off work and looked at other outdoor equipment, that place is HUGE! there was a climbing wall that I want to try out sometime! Just lose some weight and watch out, right now I wouldn't be able to make it!

DH and I looked at tents this weekend too. We are planning a trip for us and a few friends in April. We want a multi-room tent as well! Tell me how you like it.

Now we need to come up with some easy camping recipes.

I LOVE CAMPING - if you call sleeping on the beach 15 minutes from your house camping NO really, I do love camping. I think my kids are more NOT into it than I am. I haven't exposed them. I think that is a good thing to put on our TO DO list this spring or early next Fall.

Hmm..for the Summer...we don't usually do too much. We go to the beach A LOT - I work, the kids go to camp. I prefer to do our vacations when no one else does. So usually...as long as the boys weren't sick all year & didn't take any days off of school (they're rarely sick..same with me..it just doesn't work for us if we're sick lol) I let them take a few days off (mental health days). I surprise them...they wake up in the morning and I say "Nah...lets go to the aquarium instead of school." THEY FLIP - they love it. The Central Park Zoo is awesome too.

Wow I am a-ramblin. Sorry. point is..we won't be going anywhere far or vacation-like this summer

Well shucks. I was going to recommend a campground in N. Ca that has a water park in it.

What about renting a motor home??

We loved camping on the beach as kids. You could just rent a house or hotel and hang out at the beach for a week. Do smaller scale little things.

Like in Orange County you could go to Balboa island (small adventure park) Adventureland (a bit bigger adventure park) Boomers Family fun center usuallyoffers a wristband deal, The O.C. fair is in July and that is always a blast. The L.A. zoo and Aquarium of the Pacifics are close. Huntington beach offers summer surf classes for kids Hunington Beach also has a frisbee gold course (FUN) and have you ever taken the kids to the Dinsey hotel for breakfast. "Goofy's Kitchen" rocks for young kids. They have charactures come out and stop by the tables. There is a great childrens museum in La and a smaller one in Santa Ana (Orange County)

What about Circus Circus in Vegas?

We did a great sleepover at Sea World last year. it was pricey, but we all felt worth it. We got dinner and private games, shows, pictures, arts and crafts. Then slept in the buluga whale encounter and got breakfast the next morning. IT also included admitance into the park that night.

There is a wild animal rescue in N.Ca that does educational stuff for kids ect
http://www.safariwest.com/home/

or Yosemite???

I have no suggestions for anyone but am going back to the original question.

We are going to Kentucky twice one to Fort something in July and then back a month later to Lake Barkley. Two Family reunions, in centralized locations of course, none of us are from Kentucky. We may also do a camping trip with friends but that'll just be a two day thing.
