still have photographer problems!
I've posted b-4 about my photographer I had picked out had not sent the contract back yet. Well I still hadn't received it. I have called her every day for the past week. Well today I get a e-mail saying she thought she mailed it the day we last spoke cause she can't find it no where. Grrr so she emailed me a new copy and told me to fill it out again and mail it to her. Have I just messed up by hiring her I already sent her my deposit with the first contract. I know she does some great work but this is starting to scare me. I know I have 5 more months am I just over reacting?

Use you intuition!! What kind of vibes are you picking up from her. I think it is unprofessional that it took her so long to get back in touch with you. Just make sure you are comfortable with using her or it will show in your pictures!!

What did she say about the deposit? Was it a check that was already cashed? I wouldn't send her more money!

Lieagle,
I would defiantly go with your intuition as LMT said. But I would be concerned that you had to call her everyday for a week in order to get a response. So I wouldn’t sign the contract without confronting her first. I would also be concerned about the deposit check, that is if she cashed it then she simply lost your first contract…hummm. I would start thinking she might misplace other things like some of your photos or the date of your wedding. It could have been an innocent mistake but if I were you I let her know that you have some concerns.

I agree with the other ladies that the situation not good on her part. Has she cashed your check yet? Does she have a business or she is just doing the photography for you as a favor? It would seem that all of these things are bad business practices that you are mentioning about her.
ETA: It may be that the negatives outweigh the positives in this situation. She may take amazing pictures, but what if she loses your contract and forgets she has your wedding? Or forgets the date or the time? The pictures can't be amazing if they don't exist for whatever reason.

That is scary that she lost your contract. Uhmmm, it's not like it's important or anything (?)
I would trust my intuition if I were you. I once was in a wedding where after the ceremony, the photographer still hadn't showed up. I called him and he was mowing his yard. Nothing like postponing your reception waiting for the photographer to take a shower!

She already cashed my check. My bank don't send the checks back like they use to but I did get a copy of the check on line and printed it off. If I don't fill the new contract out and send it to her I doughty she would send my deposit back to me. It is scary but she is coming down the night b-4 the wedding to take picture of the rehearsal and party. Then she is staying in the same hotel as my sisters are. I talked with my friend that had her do her wedding and she said she had no problems like this. I'm hoping that when I send this contract back out she will send it to me back.

Does she live close enough that you can make an appointment and take the contract to her? That way, you can have it signed and get your copy at the same time.

Wow, that is kinda scary. I'd like to say 'give her the benefit of the doubt.' Maybe she had a bad week. Something terrible could have happened in her personal life and she was distracted. But she still should have called you and let you know. Being that disorganized is a little unsettling. I wish you the best!
